An EMER.GE.NT MEETING cf COUNCIL was held on MONDAY, October v23rd,195(
c~ene~ng at EIGHT 0tCLOCK in the evening.

Messrs B~ewster, Taylor, Gibson, Cragg and eight others from Rouge
Hills were heard. They complained about the proposed purchase
of.a F.W.D. Fire Truck for their Area at a cost of approximately
$16,000. Some wanted no fire protection until a proper
water system is installed throughout the Area - others wanted a
more expensive outfit to include a supplementary water tank.
Mr, Bert Cane, Secretary of the Area Committee, defended their
proposed Pumeha~e but added that it was their intention to secure
additional water by cisterns or trailer tank truck as required.
Mr. Cane also complained about the enforcement of our Building
By-laws. He claimed houses were being built in Rouge Hills
contrar,.r to the By-law and depreciating the value of better homes.
MOVED by Mr. Todd, sesonded by Mr. Zinkie, that Council purchase
~'6-~-M~. Cronke~ight in B.F.R.3, Lot 30, a lot ~pproximately t~
feet west of the Skidmore factox-y, having a frontage of 100 feet by
a depth of 200 feet plus angle of No. 2 Highway, for the price of
$1,100, ~Eleven hundred Dollars), said lot to be used as the site
for a fire hall for the Area; ~hat agreement of purchase and all
legal work be done by Mr. N' J. Hare, and that he have a proper
survey of the property made. CARRIED.
MOVED by Mr. Todd, seconded by Mr. Zinkie, that in all cases where
a p-~'~vate d~ive culvert is removed by the Road Department for ditcl~
said culvert be ~eplaoed, filled and g~avelled, so as to leave in
the same condition as before the Road Department operations. CARRIK.
MOVED by Mr. Zinkie that Council purchase a F-W.D. Fire. Truck at
a cos't of $16,000. for the Fire Area: NO SECONDER.

Mr, Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mm. M.B.Bu~k, moves for leave to
introduce a By-law to appoint a Dog-Catcher and provide a Dog Pound
and that same now be read a first time.

Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mm. G. Todd, moves that By-law No.18
to appoint a Dog-Catcher and provide a Dog Pound, be now read a
second time, and that the Council go into Ccaemittee of the Whole
thereon.

Mr. Clare Balsdon, seconded by Mr. l~ed Zinkie, moves that the Repo
of the Committee of the Whole on By-law No. 1830 b& adopted, and th
the said By-law be now read a Third time and passed; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and that the seal of the Corporation be
affixed thereto. CARRIED.

1. Advise Fire A~ea Committee to secure prices on a
tank truck to-be used as an auxiliary to the proposed
new fire truck.
2. Find out if a l~ovincial g~ant is paid for an
auxiliary tank t~uck to a fire truck.
3- Ask Building_ Inspector to again check on the
Price house being erected in Rouge Hills.
