SUBJECT: Applications to conduct carnival
RECOMMENDATION
That the application for a Carnival License submitted by Leslie A. Pearce, Ajax Lions Club
and Conklins Carnival to conduct a carnival at the Metro East Trade Centre on Tuesday,
April 25h, 2000 to Sunday, April 30, 2000, be approved.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Total license fees of $225.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
To approve application for a carnival license at the Metro East Trade Centre.
BACKGROUND:
Please be advised that I have received an application for a Carnival License the details of which
are as follows:
An application has been received from Leslie A. Pearce, Ajax Lions Club, 500 Clements
Road West, Ajax, Ontario, to conduct a carnival at the Metro East Trade Centre on
Tuesday, April 251h, 2000 to Sunday, April 30, 2000. This will be carried out on a
portion of the west parking lot at the METC and be blocked by the METC from the
residential subdivision to the west.

In accordance with By -law Number 5479/99 (Carnivals), the applicant has paid the
appropriate license fee, submitted a letter of permission from the property owner to
conduct the carnival, and has provided an insurance certificate in the amount of one
million dollars naming the Town as an additional insured.
1 would recommend that Council approve this application as they comply with the terms of By-
law 5479/99 and should be considered as responsible carnival operators until they prove
otherwise.
