ORIGIN /AUTHORITY: Afunicipal Act, R.S.O. 1990 chapter M. 45, section 193(7) FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. zs BACKGROUND: The Municipal Act requires that every Council of a municipality establish and maintain a public Register which lists and describes the real property owned by the municipality. Over the last year, the Legal Department, in conjunction with ctaff from Planning and Information Systems, have compiled an inventory of the lands owned by the Town of Pickering. When compiling the information for the Register, it was felt that there was a wide range of other pertinent information relating to each property that would be useful to both Town staff and the general public which exceeds the requirements of the legislation. Therefore, in addition to the Register providing the legal description of each property currently owned by the Town, it also includes the information listed below: a municipal address; the arealdimension of each parcel of land; the geographic locetion of each parcel of land; the purpose the land was acquired; the roll number of the property; and -the registration particulars, i.e., instrument no. and the date the land was acquired. It should also be nQted that each parcel of land is enhanced by mapping that Indicates at a glance where the property is located within the Town. For reference purposes, each parcel of land has been riled within its respective municipal ward. An index is provided for each ward which sets out all of the streets within the ward. Mapping identifying the street locations within the ward and the ward's boundaries also forms part of the index. This Register will serve as an important tool to be used for various administrative purposes by staff departments and for public use. The Register has been prepared in duplicate; one copy will be retained in the Planning Department and the other in the Legal Services Department. The Register will be maintained and updated on a continuous basis by the Legal Services Department.
