HomeMy WebLinkAboutOctober 6, 1993 ,0'OP A Awe& • • ,0OP py • Pickeiing' MINUTES A meeting of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was held on Wednesday, October 6, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pickering Civic Complex, Committee Room. • PRESENT: Kim Thompson Frank Williamson Henry Gawman Janice Waithe-Huberty Enrico Pistritto • •ABSENT: Anna Willson Janet Mehak Konrad Zeh • Dave Pickles 1. Adoption of Minutes Moved by Frank Williamson, seconded by Henry Gawman that the Minutes of the September 8th meeting be adopted: Carried • 1 - 2 - 2. Keffer Application The Committee discussed the letters to be sent to Council and the Town Solicitor, Tim Sheffield. 3. Plaques Konrad Zeh was not present to present an update on the status of the plaques, but the Committee discussed the placement of the plaques. 4. Funding Councillor Pistritto suggested that LACAC organize a house our of the heritage homes within Pickering. 5. Whitevale Heritage Designation The O.M.B. Hearing for the Whitevale Heritage Designation is scheduled for sometime in March or April. 6. Official Plan Frank Williamson has worked a great deal over the past month on an inventory of heritage homes for the Planning Department. He has completed an extensive study of the entire Town and is to be commended for an excellent job. He will submit to Mary Jarvis and provide the Committee with a copy. 7. MacPherson House A brief summary of the condition of the house was distributed to members. Anna Willson will be speaking to Verne MacPherson to attempt to get an outline of the family history. Kim Thompson will ask Bruce Taylor, Town Clerk for history of development and agreement. Everett Buntsma will be asked to check with Public Works Building Inspector to go over the building to prepare a list of necessary works to meet safety and code requirements, also cost of moving. Y - 3 - Suggestions made by the Committee Members: -pioneer home model, similar to Gibson House in Toronto. -should be fenced. -small admission. -heritage resource centre, for LACAC and museum use. -community meeting area. -offer it for sale for cost of moving it. -sale for salvage materials. -moving it to museum -moving it to central location as information centre. -erect a monument. 8. Mrs. Cook's Henry Gawman and Frank Williamson will check out the house and report at the next meeting. NEXT MEETING The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 3, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. in Meeting Room#1. ADJOURNEMNT The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
