Timothy Sheffield, Town Manager Inga Berrey, Manager of Accounting and Payroll Services Warren Hurren, Hurren, Flett, Sinclair, Chartered Accountants Dawn Flett, Hurren, Flett, Sinclair, Chartered Accountants Neil Sinclair, Hurren, Flett Sinclair, Chartered Accountants A meeting of the Audit Committee was held on May 22, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tower Room of the Pickering Civic Complex. The following matter was discussed: 1. Fairport Road Reconstruction Overpayment A discussion took place concerning the overpayment to Novacor Contractors for the work carried out on the Fairport Road Reconstruction project. The Committee requested that the Auditors prepare a report on corrective measures to be taken to improve procedures and process of projects supervised by the Works Department. The Auditors will contact the Committee to advise of the expected time for completion of this report. A memo will be forwarded to Council from the Audit Committee concerning the corrective measures to be taken. The Committee requested that the Town Manager prepare a fact sheet in chronological order, providing dates and outlining the events which occurred from the time staff became aware of the budget overexpenditure to the point of Council being notified. The Town Manager was advised that this was a priority item. A meeting to review the Auditors Report will be called immediately upon its arrival. The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
