Welcome Steve introduced Marisa, advising of her new responsibility overseeing the museum, taking over from Sharon Milton who is now responsible for the Recreation Complex. 2. Program Centre Steve distributed a copy of the Proposal for a Program Centre (Operations Building). (Copy attached for members not present) Dave advised of the requirements within this facility and a discussion took place with the following comments being made:  an attempt is being made to solve the dangerous problem of deliver trucks driving right through the site  a visit was made by the Health Department who have limited what can be made in the Hotel kitchen  the Health Department further requested that a separate staff washroom be built handy to the kitchen, using the washroom and washing hands in the kitchen sink is unacceptable Page 2 Item / Ref # Details & Discussion & Conclusion (summary of discussion) Action Items / Status (include deadline as appropriate)  public washrooms must be accessible from the inside as well as the outside for those participating in inside activities  Wally suggested a full drawing indicating the location on the site, access, landscaping, and placement in comparison to surrounding buildings  Further suggestions made were as follows:  The lower Operations Building should include: washrooms; kitchen facilities for food preparation; emergency area with first aid supplies, wheelchair and bed; telephone; and storage area for tables and chairs  The Upper Building could be used for costume storage and dressing room facilities for staff and volunteers, program space, storage of program materials and equipment, and storage of cleaning and maintenance equipment and supplies  A sub-committee will meet on April 29th at 1 p.m. on site to discuss this idea. The sub-committee will include Laura, Pat, Bill Utton, Terry, Dave and Steve. 3. City Support Statement Steve advised that Councillor McLean is very supportive of this concept. He further advised that a tour of the site was taken last week by Tom Quinn, Chief Administrative Officer, Everett Buntsma, Director, Operations and Emergency Services, Dave Marlowe and himself. Tom Quinn was very involved in moving the buildings onto the site and is well aware of the required hotel renovations. Steve also advised that Tom is very supportive of the concept and of staffs participation in the project and is prepared to work with the Committee to make this major project a reality. 4. Foundation Support Statement Bill Utton stated that a soil test should be undertaken before any more funds are spent on this proposal to ensure the land planned to house the hotel is suitable. The following must be considered by the sub-committee:  Soil testing  Cost of restoration  Temporary housing of supplies  Toronto Region Conservation Authority involvement  Required approvals Page 3 Item / Ref # Details & Discussion & Conclusion (summary of discussion) Action Items / Status (include deadline as appropriate) 5. Volunteers  The Volunteer 2002 Training Session will be held on Saturday, April 27th  Volunteer Picnic – Pot Luck Supper will be held on July 13th  All volunteers must attend the fire safety and interpretive techniques workshops  Advisory Committee members are requested to volunteer at at least 2 events. 6. Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on site at the Pickering Museum Village. All members are requested to meet at the Administration Building at 7 p.m. Meeting Adjourned: 8:12 AM Copy:
