The Corporation of the City of Pickering
By-law No.7080/10
Being a by-law to stop-up and close those
portions of Sheppard Avenue, being parts of
Lots 27 and 28, Range 3, BFC, parts of Lots
25 and 50, RCP 820 and parts of Block 5,
Plan 353, all in the City of Pickering,
designated as Parts 1 to 11, both inclusive,
Plan 40R-26573 as public highway, for the
purpose of sale to the adjacent owners.
Whereas, pursuant to the Municipal Act, the Council of the City may pass by-laws to
acquire or dispose of land or interests in land and to stop-up a highway, or part thereof,
and to authorize its sale or the sale of a part thereof.
Whereas, Notice of this By-law has been published for two (2) consecutive weeks.
Now therefore the Council of The Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby enacts as
follows:
1. The following portions of highway are hereby stopped-up and closed to both
vehicular and pedestrian traffic for the purpose of sale to the abutting owner,
subject to any easements:
• Those portions of Sheppard Avenue being parts of Lots 27 and 28, Range 3,
BFC, parts of Lots 25 and 50, RCP 820 and parts of Block 5, Plan 353, all in
the City of Pickering, designated as Parts 1 to 11, both inclusive, Plan
40R-26573.
2. The City shall ensure that all utility easements are conveyed to the appropriate
utility authority for nominal consideration ($2.00) prior to the conveyance of the
lands.
3. The Mayor, City Clerk and Director, Planning & Development are authorized to
obtain and execute all relevant documentation required to effect the stopping-up
and closing of those portions of Sheppard Avenue being parts of Lots 27 and 28,
Range 3, BFC, parts of Lots 25 and 50, RCP 820 and parts of Block 5, Plan 353,
all in the City of Pickering, designated as Parts 1 to 11, both inclusive, Plan
40R-26573 and to effect their conveyances.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 13th day of September,
2010.
