THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PICKERING
BY-LAW NO.6998/09
Being ,a by-law to provide for Civil Marriage
Services to be offered by the City of
Pickering.
WHEREAS on December 19, 2005, the Council of the Corporation of the City of
Pickering passed By-law 6605/05 to "opt in" to providing civil marriage services;
AND WHEREAS By-law 6605/05 states that civil marriage services will be provided
Monday to Friday in the Council Chambers, Pickering Civic Complex, One The
Esplanade, Pickering;
AND WHEREAS the Municipal Clerk has received requests to perform civil marriage
services outside the parameters set by By-law 6605/05:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED:
1. THAT the Municipal Clerk is permitted to approve civil marriage ceremonies at
locations and times outside the parameters set by By-law 6605/05;
2. THAT the Municipal Clerk and the appropriate delegated person(s), as permitted,
be authorized to solemnize civil marriages as provided in the Marriage Act and
Regulations thereto; and
3. THAT the fee for.a civil marriage ceremony conducted outside the parameters set
by By-law 6605/05 be $350.00
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 16th day of
November, 2009.
