Jack Anderson, R.R.#l Greenwood, spoke in support of
Planning Report #1/91 and expressed his concern with
respect to the appropriateness of the Open Space
designations on Brock Road. He suggested that the area
north of the Gatineau line to the CP Rail line be
designated Urban or a Special Study Area, that the hamlet
of Greenwood be a Special Study Area and that landowners on
Brock Road be considered in order that future development
is available to them.

He also stated that areas in the plan designated as
"Regional Nodes" be designated as a Special Study Area and
that the Region conduct market studies to determine Main
Central Area designations, not the Town or the applicant.

Ron Halliday, 427 Taunton Road, Ajax, stated that rezoning
applications on Brock Road are on hold however, the
proposed Official Plan designates the area as Open Space
and he is opposed to this. He also commented on the Swan
property in the Finch Avenue/Whites Road area which has
both Residential and Open Space designations.
Henry Kahn, Kahn Auction Sales, Brock Road, stated his
opposition to the Brock Corridor between Rossland Road and
Taunton Road as Major Open Space. He stated he can
visualize a commercial or tourist node and requested the
Committee to make the Region aware of landowners' needs.

February 21, 1991, presents its first report to Council and
recommends:

That Town Planning Report 1/91, as revised, be received and
forwarded to Regional Planning Committee as the Town of
Pickering's preliminary comments on the revised Durham
Regional Offical Plan as set out in Regional Planning
Commissioner's Report 9l-P-l.
