STATUTORY PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING MINUTES

A Statutory Public Meeting was held by the Pickering Town Council on
Tuesday, October 9, 1990 at 7:30 p.m.

(I) OFFICIAL PLAN AMENDMENT 87-83/D, DRAFT PLAN OF SUBDIVISION

CLAREMONT ESTATES ONTARIO LTD. IN CLAREMONT

1. An explanation of the application, as outlined in
Information Report 43/90, was given by Catherine Rose.
2. Peter Wal ker, representi ng the appl i cant, presented a
plan that provides a greenspace and a walkway through
the creek. The walkway would link up with other
walkways proposed by the Region. He asked why an
Official Plan amendment is needed to the hamlet plan
and requested that the proposed plan of subdivision be
included in the expansion to Phase I. He added that
the appl icant has contributed to appropriate growth
and is committed to the future of Claremont.
3. Lorne Almack representing the Pickering Rural
Association expressed concern with the effect the
proposa 1 may have on envi ronment issues, specifi ca lly
watercourses, greenspace, ri ver vall eys and adequate
di scharge of sanitary and storm water. He suggested
that speci a 1 care and sens i ti vity to the envi ronment
be taken and that trees be pl anted on the wal kway
easement.
4. Douglas Shinobu, representing Toku Investments, stated
that area developers had contributed funds for the
ori gi na 1 Cl aremont Development Pl an Background Study
to define the hamlet's boundaries and asked that
Council consider the contribution prior to making a
decision regarding this application.

5. Peter Walke~ responded that his client is agreeable to
the walkway and greenspace easement.
