EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

ADOPTION OF MINUTES
Regular Meeting of September 14, 1997
(II) DELEGA TIONS
1. Karen Wright, 1306 Grovedale Court, requested that the hall rental fee of
the O'Brien Room be waived for the next two weeks in the event that the
school strike is not settled and students could be taught during that time.
THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATION WAS CONSIDERED
AND LOST:

That the request of Karen Wright, 1306 Grovedale Court, acting on behalf
of parents of students whose teachers are now on strike, for a one-time
only reduction of 50% of the hall rental fee for the O'Brien Room while the
teachers are on strike, be approved.

Tenders approved by the General Manager during Council's Summer 1998
recess, be ratified.

In Legal Services Report L ] 0 ]/98, it is recommended that a draft by-law
to dedicate part of Lots 11, 12, and 13, Plan 505, (Rosebank Road) as
public highway, be forwarded to Council for enactment.

TRANSPORTATION AND GO TRANSIT
FUNDING ISSUES IN THE GT A

It is recommended that the resolution from the Regional Municipality of
Halton, passed on July 15, 1998 regarding Transportation and GO Transit
Funding Issues in the GT A, be endorsed.

APPOINTMENT OF BY -LAW ENFORCEMENT
OFFICERS TO ENFORCE PARKING BY-LAW
AT 1995 ROYAL ROAD

In Clerk's Report CL 38/98, it is recommended that a draft by-law to
appoint three persons to enforce the Parking By-law at 1995 Royal Road,
be forwarded to Council for enactment.

OTHER BUSINESS
1.
Councillor Johnson reported that Legion Week at Claremont Branch 43
was successful.
2.
Councillor Johnson reported that the Region has endorsed Ajax' decision
to fight the J. & F. Waste Transfer Station on Notion Road.
3.
Councillor Brenner was pleased that the Region passed a resolution to
support GO Transit's position that no GST be charged on transit fares.
4.
Councillor Brenner reported that he will be introducing a Notice of Motion
of striking a task force to meet with the business community on taxation
and assessment policies.
5.
Councillor Brenner reported on the tìre in his Ward on September 25th in
which a young child was killed.
6.
Councillor Dickerson reported that the Frenchman's Bay Watershed
Protection Project is now under way.
7.
Councillor Dickerson further reported that GO Transit IS looking for
funding from the Regions.
8.
The following matters were considered prior to the regular meeting:
a) The Director of Finance gave an informal briefing on the setting of
the 1998 tax rate.
b)
The General Manager noted that he will be sending out a report to
Members of Council on Ontario Hydro's notification process.
