À meeting of the Pickering Township Committee of the Whole on Parks
and Recreation was held on Tuesday, EIGHTEENTH of April 1972 a~ 8:45 p.m.

1. SITE VISIT TO DUNBARTON INDOOR POOL
Prior to the Parks and Recreation meeting in the Committee room the
Committee visited the Dunbarton Indoor Pool at 7:30 p.m.
2. PRESENTATION OF CRESTS TO CHAMPIONSHIP AND CONSOLATION SERIES

3. ADOPTION OF MINUTES

THAT the minutes 3/72 of a meeting held on Wednesday,
March 22nd., 1972 be adopted as circulated.

4. !!USINESS ARISING FROM T~.~NUTRS
A) Fitness Roo~ at Dunbarton:
Motion 14/71.
MOVED by Councillor Mrs.J.L.McPherson,Seconded by Councillor J.Anderson
THAT the Committee recommend to Council that the keep fit
room at Dunbarton be used as a Billiard Room, under the
supervision of the Sauna attendant, on a trial basis.
CARRIED.

B) Newsletter:
It was pointed out that there would be a 1! week delay in the
distribution of the Newsletter due to ttnaatisfactory production.
The newsletters are presently being reprinted.
5. DELEGATION FROM TEEN CENTRE BOA~D OF-PIRECTORS
Mr. Colin Robinson of the Teen Centre Board of Directors submitted
the attached proposal for Counci1Ys consideration. The Director
reiterated his previous comments regarding the Teen Centre as
outlined within his attached report.

MOVED by Councillor J. Anderson,Seconded by Councillor D. Kitchen
THAT the Committee recommend to Council that a full time
supervisor be hired for the Teen Centre under the full
direction of the parks and recreation department, and that
the Director meet with the Board of Directors to establish
the terms of reference.
CARRIED.
Note (It was agreed that a part time summer employee be hired
should Council receive a grant under the Opportunities
for Youth Program)
6. ENCROACHMENT ON TOWNSHIP LANDS AT WEST SHORE GLEN PARK

The Director of Parks and Recreation outlt~,d his concerns about the
encroachment situation in West Shore Glen"'~ark and Ravine and
recommended to Council that action be taken to correct this
situation.

MOVED by Councillor D. Kitchen, Seconded by Councillor J.Anderson
THAT the Committee recommend to Council that the Township
send letters to residents whose property abuts West Shore
Glen Park and Ravine, who are encroaching on Township
property, informin~ these citizens that when the Township
develops the ravine lands it will be necessary for these
citizens to move any structures encroaching on Township
property.
CARRIED.
7. PROPOSED OFFICIAL OPENING OF DUNBARTON INDOOR POOL
The Committee agreed that the Official Opening for the Dunbarton
Indoor Pool should be held on May 12th., 1972 at 7:30 p.m.
8. DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 16th., 1972.
9. ADJOURNMENT
MOVED by Councillor K. Matheson, Seconded by Councillor J. Anderson
THAT the meeting be adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
