""..
Mr. R.D. Owen and his assistant Mrs. Dung Lin were
present to show further plans as developed for the
Greenwood Site. The following models and plans
were presented:
a) TOpographic three dimensional model.
""..
b) OVerlay model
"...
c) West and South elevations plan
"...
d) Landscape plan
e) Building locations plan
,...
f) Building functions plan
Mr. OWen explained the concept of the proposed plan.
Buildings are grouped together around a small open
space and the buildings are related in terms of time.
"...
"..
The plan indicates more buildings than the Museum
actually has. The other buildings can be acquired
and moved on a gradual basis as the buildings become
available and funds are acquired.
The question of the restoration of buildings was also
raised. It was queried whether buildings should be
restored to a very particular period or whether they
should represent a period of growth development within
a particular building, for instance a building may have
been in use over a period of fifty years and features
within the building may have been modified during this
period.

NEW BUSINESS (Continued)
3.
It was also pointed out that ancilary buildings
such as wood sheds, dog kennels, outhouses, etc.,
should be acquired when ever these become available
either on the Airport site or in the North Pickering
site.
Another area of concern were the fácilities provided
for school tours. It was indicated that there could
be a separate bus entrance at the north-east corner of
the property off Greenwood Road. It was furthermore
pointed out that schools are having a greater participation
in museums, such as projects, participation programmes,
etc., which are beyond the scope of simple school tours.
This type of participation should be taken into consideration
when the plan is being developed.
FURTHER BUSINESS
4.
Letter from Mr. Martin
A letter was received from Mr. Martin suggesting that
a gift shop be established in the Museum for the
purpose of selling goods produced locally. It was
indicated that this idea is very attracti~e. However,
several questions should be asked relative to this type
of estabishment:
a) about the demonstrator
b) about the demonstration
c) about the relationship of the demonstrator and
demonstration to the actual building.
MOTION 11/76
Moved by C.R. Purcell, seconded by D. McLean that the
letter of Mr. Martin be received and filed for consideration
and that the writer be advised that it was taken under
consideration along with other requests.
