1. Project Update
Councillor Holland provided an update on the status of the Waterfront Trail
Project advising that the boardwalk connecting the bottom of Liverpool Road
to the Alex Robertson Park is complete and the children's splash park is
being painted. He further advised that the final elements of the Millennium
Square, including completion of the boardwalk, children's play equipment, etc.
are included in the 2001 Capital Budget. These elements will be tendered
and are subject to Council's approval in February. If approved, this work
could be complete in time for the Frenchman's Bay Festival and ribbon cutting
could take place in June. The Historical, Arts and Interpretive Signage
aspects are not included.
A presentation will be made to Council in January by staff and Victor Ford &
Associates on Phase II of the project - Frenchman's Bay West. The
washroom element of this project will not be included in this phase until the
water pipes are placed. The east/west connection along Beach Point
Promenade can also not be completed until these water pipes are installed.
2. Waterfront Trail - Costs to Date & Estimate of Completion Costs
Everett Buntsma, Director, Operations & Emergency Services reviewed his
memorandum dated November 29th, 2000 to Mayor Arthurs with the
Committee. (copy attached)
Everett and Victor Ford have been working together on a brochure and Power
Point presentation of the Waterfront Trail. This presentation and brochure will
assist to inform others of the beautiful waterfront along Pickering shores.
Everett further advised that Richard Holborn, Division Head, Municipal
Property & Engineering has been working with TRCA towards an RFP for
storm water management. A Critical Path/Schedule for the Stormwater
Management initiatives that has been started with TRCA will be provided to
the Committee. A copy of the report from Richard Holborn, sent to Council in
September, concerning Stormwater management initiatives, is attached.
