(I) RESOLUTIONS
Resolution #143/04
Moved by Councillor McLean
Seconded by Councillor Johnson
That pursuant to Section 239(4) of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, the Council of
The Corporation of the City of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a closed meeting to
discuss a personnel matter.

Councillor Brenner declared an interest in the subject matter to be discussed
because a member of his family is subject to the Collective Agreement with CUPE
Local 129. Councillor Brenner left the room for the duration of the In Camera
session of this Special Meeting.
The Division Head, Human Resources gave an overview of the highlights of the new
Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 129.

Seconded by Councillor McLean
That Council accepts the terms and conditions outlined in the Memorandum of
Settlement dated October 25, 2004 between the Corporation of the City of
Picketing and Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 129 respecting a
Collective Agreement having a three year term commencing April 1, 2004 and
ending March 31, 2007.
That Report HR 02-04 be received and that Council authorize the Mayor and City
Clerk to execute the new 2004/2007 Collective Agreement (between the
Corporation of the City of Picketing and the Canadian Union of Public
Employees, Local 129) having a three year term commencing April 1, 2004 and
ending March 31, 2007.

That Councillor Ashe, seconded by Councillor Pickles, took leave to introduce a by-law
of the City of Pickering:
By-law Number 6401/04
Being a by-law to ratify the terms of a Memorandum of Settlement dated October 25,
2004 between the Corporation of the City of Pickering and the Canadian Union of Public
Employees, Local 129 respecting a Collective Agreement for 2004/2007 and to
authorize the execution of that Collective Agreement.

THIRD READING:
Councillor Ashe, seconded by Councillor Pickles, moved that By-law Numbers 6401/04,
be adopted and the said by-law be now read a third time and PASSED and that the
Mayor and Clerk sign the same and the seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

OTHER BUSINESS
The (Acting) Chief Administrative Officer reported on funds the City received from
Confederation Life and noted that the City has recovered its investment from that
company.
Councillor Ashe asked if the City was sending representatives to sit on
consultation meetings being held by the Province with respect to the Seaton area
and Mayor Ryan responded that staff continues to attend Provincial meetings
respecting the Seaton area except those being led by the Provincial planning
consultant.
Councillor Ashe inquired into the process for recruiting the Executive Assistant
for the Mayor's Office.
Councillor Brenner noted that the Christmas parties for the City and Veddian are
on the same day.

Mayor Ryan reported that the Mayor of Whitby contacted him with respect to the
PAW Joint Animal Services Committee.
Mayor Ryan noted that there will be a Council/staff session on Friday, December
17th from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
