THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN? OF pICKERING
BY-LAW NA B : ? - ,
Being a by-law to fix instalment dates,
penalty amounts and interest rates
respecting the payment and collection
of taxes.
WHEREAS By law Number 354/76 provides generally for the
payment and collection o taxes;
AND WHEREAS, pursuant to that By-law, it is deemed expedient at this
time to firs the due dates for the pay.ment of instalments of taxes,
to fix the amount of a penalty for non-payment of taxes, and to fix
rates of interest on unpai& taxes;
THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering
enacts as follows:
1. Taxes levied for 1977 under By-lava Number 354/76 , shall
be collected in four (4) instalments, being two interim bl lings
and two final billings, as follows:
Interim Tax Billings:
Due date of FIRST I14STAIMENT - March 15th, 1977
Due date of SECOND INSTALMENT April: 26th, 1977 -
Final Tax Billings:
Due date of THIRD INSTALMENT - dune 27th, I977-
Due date of FOUPTH INSTAIMDNT September 27th, 1977-
7 2. The amount of the penalty for-non-payment of 1977 taxes or any
instalment thereof shall be one (1) percent of the outstanding amount
imposed on the first day of default and on the first day of each
calendar month thereafter in which default continues, but not after
the end of the year 1977.
3. The Town Treasurer-Tax Collector shall add to the amount of
all taxes, due and unpaid in 1977, interest at the rate of one (1)
percent of the amount unpaid per month for each month or fraction
thereof after the 31st day of December, 1977 and shall continue to
collect such unpaid taxes together with interest at the aforesaid
rate until such taxes are paid.
By--law read a first, second and third time and PASSED in open
Council this (St day of 1977.
