~ by said By-law No. 1868, 60~ of the cost incurred
under the said agreement was to be collected by an annual special rate
upon the taxable property lying within the said area and 40~ of the
said cost was to be ~aid by the ~orporation of the Township of Picketing.
AND ~/E~FA.~ it is desired to amend the said By-law to provide
that 100~ of the cost incurred under the sa/d agreement after / ~day
offset/ , 1962 be paid by an annual special rate upon the tax-
abl~e property lying within the said area.
NOW THEREI~ the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the
Township of Picketing enacts as follows:
(1) That paragraph 3 of the said By-law No. 1868 aforesaid
be amended by deleting the same and substituting the following therefor:
"3. That 60~ of the cost incurred under said a~reement for
street lighting in the area therein described be raised, levied and
collected by an annual special rate upon the taxable ~roperty lying within
the said area until the /&~ day of/~~/ , 1962 and thereafter
that 100~ of the said cost be raised, l~vied and collected by an annual
special rate upon the taxable property lying with the said area."
(2) That paragraph 4 of the said By-law No. 1868 aforesaid be
amended by deleting the same and substituting the followin~ therefor:
"4. That 40~ of the cost incurred under the said a§ree~ent for
street lighting in the area therein described be paid by the Corporation
and be chargeable to the municipality as a whole until the ! ~ day of
, 1962 and thereafter no part of the said cost shall be so
~paid or chargeable,"

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING
A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE THE CORPORATION TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER COMMISSION OF ONTARIO FOR STREET LIGHTING.
WHEREAS a majority of the resident freeholders according to the last
revz~ assessment roll residing within the area described in the
petition have petitioned the Council of the Corporation of the Township
of Picketing to procure from The Hydro-Electric Power Commission of
Ontario, street lighting in the said area~ and the said petition was
accompanied by the certificate of the Clerk of the Township stating that
it was signed by a majority of the said resident freeholders;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to such petition the Council of the said Township have
requested '~he Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario to supply
electrical power or energy for that purpose; and the Hydro-Electric
Power Commission of Ontario has furnished estimates of the cost thereof;
AND WHEREAS notice was duly given to each of the petitioners signing
the said petition that the Council of the Township would, at a special
meeting called for that purpose, consider the said estimates;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the said Township at such meeting held
within one month after the delivery of said estimates, namely on the
Fourth day of July~ 1950, considered the said estimates, and heard
the petitioners;
AND WHEREAS at the close of the said meeting there were remaining on
the petit'i6n a sufficient number of names to constitute a majority
of the resident freeholders within the said area;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL 0Y THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF
PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Corporation of the Township of Picketing do enter into
an agreement with The Hydro-Electric Power Commission of Ontario
for street lighting in the said area, a copy of which agreement
is hereto attached and forms part of this By-law;
2. THAT the Reeve and Clerk of the Corporation be and they are
hereby authorized and required to execute the said agreement on
behalf of the Corporation and to affix the Corporate Seal thereto
and to deliver such agreement when executed to The Hydro-Electric
Power Commission of Ontario;
3. THAT sixty percent of the oost incurred under said agreement for
street lighting in the area therein described be raised, levied
and collected by an annual special rate upon the taxable property
lying within the said area;
4. THAT forty percent of the cost incurred under the said agreement
for street lighting in the area therein described be paid by the
Corporation and be chargeable to the municipality as a whole.
5. THAT By-Law No. 1825 be and the same is hereby repealed.
