A BY-LAW TO AUTHORIZE AN APPLICATION TO THE ONTAP~IO MUNICIPAL
BOARD FOR AN ORDER ~LARGING THE D~TINED LIMITS OF FIRE AREA
NO. 1 AND DECREASING THE LIMITS OF FIRE AREA NO. 3 ALI, IN THE
SOUTH PART OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING.
WHEREAS By-Law Num bet 1823, as amended by By-Law No. 2098,
passed June 20, 1950, and June 27, 1955 respectively by the
Corporation of the Township of Picketing, created Fire Area
No. 1, and By-Law Number 2477 passed February 1, 1960, Created
Fire Area No. 3, with the expense of such fire protection to
be defrayed by imposing a special rate upon all the lands
within the said areas;
AND WHEREAS the easterly limit of Fire Area No. i is through the
new Bay Ridges Subdivision with houses partly in each Fire Area,
and Council deem it desirable to change the Fire Area limits so
that the whole of Fire Area No. 1 will include all the Bay Ridges
Subdivision;
AND WHEREAS by virtue of Section 15 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.,
1960, C.249, the said Township may apply to the Ontario Municipal
Board for an Order enlarging any area in the Township created for
any Municipal purpose;
NOW THEP~ORE BE IT ENACTed) by the Municipal Council of the Corp-
oration of the Township of Pickering as follows:
1. THAT the Corporation of the Township of Picketing be and the
same is hereby authorized to make application to the
Municipal Board for an Order enlarging Fire Area No. l~-s
',,~ defined in By-Laws Numbered 1823 and 2098 by adding thereto,
the lands described in Schedule "A" annexed to this By-Law
and made part thereof and for an order that the said lands
to be included in such enlarged area shall be subject to the
~ provisions or By-Laws Numbers 1823 and 2098, and shall share
the costs of fire protection, such costs to be defrayed by a
special mill rate imposed on the lands in the defined area
as enlarged.
2. THAT the Corporation of the Township of Pickering be and
the same is hereby authorized to make application to the
~,~ Ontario Municipal Board for an Order reducing the area of
Fire Area Number 3 as defined in By-Law Number 2477 by
reducing therefrom the lands described in Schedule 'B"
annexed to this By-Law and made part thereof and for an
Order that the said lands be excluded from those lands
described in By-Law Number 2477.
3. TIIAT By-Law No, 2579 be and the same is hereby repealed.
