HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2626 BY-LAW NUMBER BY-LA Tag CO.OPTION THE TOWNSHIP PICKEP~N~ FOR UNBER- TAKING THE CONSTF~JCTION OF ~/ATEI$/OFI(S ~XTENSIONS TO SERVE THE ROSF, BANK AREA OF PICKER~NG TOWNSHIP EAST OF THE ROUGE }RVER~ AS A LOCAL I~PROV~ENT. ~dEREAS the Corporation of the Township of Picketing may pass By-laws for undertaking a work as a local improvement on petition under the provisions of Section 7 of The Local Improvement Act, P~S.O. (1960) chap. 223; AND WHEHFAS a petition for the hereinafter described work has been received by the said Council duly signed by at least two-thirds in number of the owners representing at least one-half of the value of the lots liable to be specially assessed in connection therewith; AND ~HEHEAS the Council has caused to be made the reports, estimates, and statements required in connection therewith; NOW THEREfOrE THE COUNCIL OF THE COllOCATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICK- EHING enacts as follows: 1. THAT the construction of waterworks extensions (as shown on accom- panying map, Schedule ~A~) to serve those lands of Pickering Town- ship bounded on the south by Lake Ontario; on the west by the Rouge River; on the north by Highway No. 401, and on the east by the dividing line between Township Lots 29 and 30, be undertaken as a local improvement under the provisions of the Local Improvement Act. 2. THAT the cost of the said work, estimated at $173, f~'.00, be financed by the sale of twenty-year debentures bearing interest at 6~ per annum: Debenture Total Est. Estimated yearly revenue (ft. frontage) 33,000 X 41.2~ - $13,59~.00 House services estimated at 300 ~ $7.31 per annum - 2,193.09 Total estimated revenue per annum - $15~789.00 3. The Township Engineer of the said Corporation do forthwith make or cause to be made such plans, profiles and specifications as may be necessary in order to carry out the construction of the said work. 4. THAT the said work shall be constructed under the superintendence and direction of the said Township Engineer. 5. THAT the Roeve and Clerk be and the same are hereby authorized to enter into one or more contracts for the construction of the said work subject to the approval of this Council to be declared by resolution. 6. THAT the Township Treasurer may agree with any bank or person for temporary advances of money to meet the cost of the said work pending the completion thereof subject to the approval of this Council to be declared by resolution. 7. THAT the special assessment shall be paid by: (a) a foot frontage charge of 41o2¢ per foot levied on all the lands abutting directly on the work. (b) House services connection charge of $7.31 per year per lot. - 2- 8. THAT any person whose lot is speci.ally assessed may co.m~ute fox' a payment in cash the special rates ~mposed thereon by p~ng the portion of the cost of construction assessed upon such lot without the interest forthwith after the special assessment roll has been Certified by the Clerk, but may not commute after the debenture by-law has been passed. 9. THAT the said Corporation issue one or more debentures to pay for the balance of~ the cost of the work when completed to bear interest at such rate and to be on such terms and conditions as Council may determine.
