A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO AUTHORIZE
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A WATER STORAGE TANK IN WATER AREA NO. 1.
WHEREAS the Consulting Engineers of the Township, Messrs. Proctor and
Redfern, have recommended that to improve the water service in Water
Area No; 1 it will be necessary to instal a 250,900 gallon water storage
tank at an estimated cost of $100,500.00, such tank to be located
immediately south of #ighway 401 on sideline between Lots 34 and 35
and the said cost be repaid as a local improvement under the Local
Improvement Act over a period of twenty (20) years on Water Area No. 1;
AND WHEREAS what otherwise would be the Corporation's share is to be
assessed against owners of property within the area, and if a portion
of that share is recovered from any source it will not be necessary to
assess for it;
AND WHEREAS Water Area No. 1 comprises all those lands lying west of the
Rogge River in the Township;
AND WHEREAS Council have approval from the Ontario Witter Reso es Board
for the building of said water storage tank dated
NOW THEREFORE The Municipal Corporation of the Township f Pickering
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The construction of the works is hereby authorized and directed on
` the water storage tank according to plans as a local improvement
under the provisions of the Local Improvement Act.
2. The engineers are hereby authorized and directed to make such plans,
profiles and specifications and furnish such information as may be
necessary for the purpose of entering into a contract for the
execution of the works.
3. The works shall be carried on and executed according to the dir-
ections and orders of the engineers.
4. The Reeve and the Clerk of the Corporation are hereby authorized
to cause a contract for the construction of the works to be made
and entered into with some person or persons, firm, or corporation,
subject to the approval of this Council, to be declared by resolution.
5. The Treasurer of the Corporation may, subject to the approval of
The Council, agree with any Bank for temporary advances of money to
meet the cost of the works pending the completion of it.
6. The special assessment shall be paid by Twenty annual instalments.
7. The cost of the work, including Debenture charges, and the cost of
the maintenance and managing of the work, including the cost of the
utilities supplied may, if necessary, be assessed and levied on the

The cost of the works to be chargeable upon the Water Area No. 1
is $100,500.000
