A BY-LAW TO ASSESS THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING FOR THE
IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIR OF ROADS AND BRIDGES, PAYMENT OF SALARIES, THE
GENERAL EXPENSES OF THE CORPORATION, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF WELN'ARE, FOR
THIS MUNICIPALITY'S SHARE OF THE COST OF ROADS AND GENERAL PURPOSES OF
Tl1E COUNTY OF ONTARIO, TO PAY THE TOWNSHIPSS SHARE OF THE COST OF OPER-
ATIONS OF THE PICKERING DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL BOARD FOR THE YEAR 1959.
WHEREAS it, will require the sum of /9 Y. zf Y/. S-g from the Municipality
of the Township of Pickering for the improvement and repair of roads and
bridges, the payment of salaries and the general expenses of the municipality,
in the year 1959;
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of s?f 6 8. 3 3 to defray the general
expenses of the Police Village of Claremont and to cover the share of the
Police Village in sundry services and expenses of the Municipality during
the said year;
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of L7300, *C to defray the cost of
the Municipality for Welfare to the unemployed and poor and hospitalization
of same, in the said year;
AND WHEREAS the County Council of the County of Ontario will require the
levy and collection from and upon all the rateable property in the Muni-
cipality of the Township of Pickering, in the year 1959, of an amount,
for the purposes of the said County of $ 138,627.54;
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Municipality,
including all portions thereof, in the said year 1959, is the sum of
$ 15,5370668.17;
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Police Village
of Claremont it the said year is $ 434,838.79;
AND WHEREAS the Township of Pickering High School Board has requisitioned
93,643.44 for High school purposes in the year 1959, and such requisition
shall be levied over the whole of the said Township;
AND WHEREAS the Provincial per capita grant of $46,112.75 is designated to
be credited to Residential and Farm assessments only;
AND WHEREAS the Farm and Residential assessments amount to $13,620,080.00
and that of Commercial and Manufacturing to $1,917,588.17;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the Township of
Pickering:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the rateable
property in the Municipalit of the Township of Pickering the rate or sum

and the general expenses of the Municipality in the year 1959, as stated it
the preamble of this By-Law.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the rateable
property in the Police Village of Claremont in the year 1959 the rate or
sum of 2 o 76. s-Z

for the purposes of the said Village and Township as stated in the
said preamble.
3. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the jowrship of
Pickering, in the year 1959, the rate or sum of mills on the
Dollar, which will amount to the sum of $ 90322.60 to defray the
cost of giving Welfare to the unemployed and poor, and hospital-
ization of same in the said Municipality, during the year 1959,
as stated in the said preamble.
4. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of
Pickering, in the year 1959, the rate or sum of 8.9 mills on the
Dollar, which will amount to the sum of $ 138,285.25 for the
general purposes of the Corporation of the County of Ontario,
including maintenance and improvement of County and Suburban roads, in
the said year, as stated in the said preamble.
5. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of
Pickering, in the year 1959, the rate or sum of 6.03 Mills on the
)_'j Dollar, which will amount to the sum of $93,692.14 for the use
of the Township of Pickering High School Board for the year 1959.
