A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO DEFINE AN
AREA IN THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING AND PROVIDE. FOR THE COLLECTION,
REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL BY THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING OF GARBAGE, ASHES
AND OTHER REFUSE IN SAID AREA AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE IMPOSITION UPON
THE LAND IN SAID AREA ACCORDING TO ITS ASSESSED VALUE, OF A SPECIAL
RATE TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSE OF SUCH COLLECTION, REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL.
WHEREAS the Corporation of the Township of Pickering deems it desirable
and expedient to make the service of collection, removal and disposal
of garbage, ashes and other refuse available to the area as defined in
Schedule "A" to this by-law;
AND WHEREAS for the purpose of defraying the expense of such collection,
removal and disposal, it is necessary to impose upon the land in said
area, according to its assessed value, a special rate hereinafter
specified;
AND WHEREAS by authority of paragraph 86 of subsection 1 of section
388 of The Municipal Act, R. S. 0. 1.950, chapter 243, this by-law is
passed.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED and it is hereby enacted as a by-law of
the Corporation of the Township of Pickering by the Council thereof
as follows:
1. The ]ands lying and being in the Township of Pickering and more
particularly described in Schedule "A" to this by-law shall be
hereafter defined as an area within which the collection, removal
and disposal of garbage, ashes and other refuse shall be carried
out by the Corporation of the Township of Pickering.
2. A special rate of 2 mills shall be imposed upon all land in
said area according to its assessed value inclusive of the
assessed value of the buildings located thereon to defray the
expense of such collection, removal and disposal. PROVIDED,
HOWEVER, THAT IN THE CASE OF A PLACE OF WORSHIP, THE SPECIAL
rate shall be imposed upon the land accordin to its assessed
value exclusive of the assessed value of the buildings located
thereon.
3. The special rate may be recovered in like manner as municipal
taxes.
4. All provisions of by-laws or amendments thereto inconsistent with
the provisions of this by-law are hereby repealed.

The Garbage Collection Area of Pickering Township shall comprise the
following lots and plans:
1. All of Lots 31 to 35 inclusive from Highway No. 2 to Lake Ontario.
2. All of Lot 30 in Broken Front Range 2.
3. West half of Lot 30 in Broken Front Range 3, south of Highway
Number 2.
4. All of Plans Nos. 270, 311, 331 and 364 in Broken Front, Range 3,
Lot 27.
5. All of Lot 24 between Highway No. 2 and bake Ontario.
6. All of Frenchman's Bay registered and unregistered plans in Lots
22 and 23, Broken Front, Range 3.
7. All plans No. 440, 422, and 406 in Lots 15 and 16, Broken Front,
Range 2.
8. All plans No. 250, 2850 392, 380 and 372 in Pickering Beach - Lots
5 and 6 in Broken Front Ranges 2 and 3.
9. All lots abutting the Altona Road on the West Side, north of No.
2 Highway, up to the Old Trespass Road; and all Lots Nos. 33, 34
and 35 north of the Old Trespass Road in Broken Front Range 3.
10. All lots Nos. 27, 28, 308 31 and 32 north of Highway No. 2 to the
First Concession line.
11. All lots Numbers 25, 26, 27 and 29 between Highway No. 401 and
Highway No. 2.
12. All lots Nos. 32, 33, 34 and 35 in Concession 1.
13. The south half of Lot No. 31 and the north quarter of Lot No. 31,
Concession 1.
14. All Lots Nos. 29 and 30 in Concession 1.
15. The north-west quarter of Lot No. 28 in Concession 1.
16. All of Lot No. 27 in Concession 1.
17. All of Plan No. 330 in Lot No. 26, Concession One.
18. All of the Hamlet of Dunbarton in south half of Lots Nos. 25 and 26,
Concession One.
19. All Plans No. 489, 492, 521 and the Liverpool Hotel in Lots Nos. 23
and 240 Concession One.
