A BY-LAW OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO PROVIDE
FOR A VOTE BEING TAKEN OF THE ELECTORS IN A PROPOSED WATER AREA ON THE
QUESTION:
"Are you in favour of the establishment of a Municipal
Water system at an approximate cost of ?jo. 00 0. o o "
WHEREAS the Township Consulting Engineers have submitted a report whereby
Municipal water could be made available to the most heavily built up
areas in south-west Pickering Township at a capital cost of o.ooo °
' such area to include the Frenchman's Bay-Liverpool District---
AND WHEREAS the Engineers are in receipt of a letter of preliminary
app? oval?`rom the Department of Health for the taking of such a vote
dated --27 w• s 1954 and numbered s v- a - s33.
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of
Pic ering as o ows:
In this By-Law "Electors" shall mean persons entitled to vote on
Money By-Laws.
(2) The area comprising the proposed water area shall comprise all the
lands from 300 feet north of the Second Concession line to Lake
Ontario and from Lots 19 to 24 inclusive excepting that part of
sandbar on the Bay which lies west of the Gap in Lot 24.
(3) The votes of the Electors within the proposed area shall be taken
on the said question on the 6th day of December, A.D. 1954, between
??,(//?• the hours of Ten o'clock in the forenoon and Eight o'clock in the
U afternoon, at the various Polling Booths in the area at the same
time and place as the Municipal Elections are held.
(4) On the 3rd day of December, A.D., 19540 at the hour of Ten o'clock
in the forenoon, the Head of the Council of said Corporation or
some member of said Council appointed for that purpose by resolution
shall attend at the office of the Clerk of said Municipality in the
said Village of Brougham for the purpose of appointing, and if
_ requested so to do, shall appoint by writing, two persons to attend
/ the final summing up of the votes by the Clerk and one person to
attend at each polling place on behalf of the persons interested
in and desirous of promoting the proposed By-Law, or voting in the
affirmative on the question, and a like number on behalf of the
persons interested in and desirous of opposing the proposed By-Law
or voting in the negative on the question.
(5) On the 7th day of December, A.D. 1954, at the hour of Ten o'clock
in the forenoon, at the office of the Clerk of the Municipality,
IA?I?I? the Clerk shall attend and sum up the votes given in the affirmative
and negative on each of the said questions.
