A BY-LAW OF THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO PROVIDE
FOR A VOTE BEING TAKEN OF THE ELECTORS IN A PROPOSED WATER AREA ON THE
QUESTION:
"Are you in favour of the establishment of a Municipal
Water system at an approximate cost of $ 965,000.00
(Nine Hundred and Sixty-Five Thousand Dollars)?"
WHEREAS the Township Consulting Engineers have submitted a report whereby
Municipal water could be made available to the most heavily built up areas
in south-west Pickering Township at a capital cost of $ 965,000.00;
AND WHEREAS the Engineers are in receipt of a letter of preliminary
approval from the Department of Health for the taking of such a vote
dated ?. a. 1953 and numbered S3 13 +tSf
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of
Pickering as follows:
(1) In this By-Law "Electors" shall mean persons entitled to vote on
Money By-Laws.
(2) The area comprising the proposed water area shall comprise all the
lands from 300 feet north of the Second Concession line to Lake
Ontario and from/Scarborough Town Line to the Improvement District
of Ajax and Village of Pickering, less Lots 13, 14, -156: in...
Concession One.
(3) The votes of the Electors within the proposed area shall be taken
on the said question on the 7th day of December, A. D. 1953, between
the hours ofTen o'clock in the forenoon and Eight o'clock in the
afternoon, at the various Polling Booths in the area at the same time and
place as the Municipal Elections are held.
(4) On the 4th day of December, A.D., 1953, at the hour of Ten o'clock
in the forenoon, the head of the Council of said Corporation or
some member of said Council appointed for that purpose by resolution
shall attend at the office of the Clerk of said Municipality in the
said Village of Brougham for the purpose of appointing, and if
requested so to do, shall appoint by writing, two persons to attend
the final summing up of the votes by the Clerk and one person to
att?end on behalf of the person interested in and voting in the
affirmative on each of said questions, and a like number on behalf
of the persons interested in and voting in the negative on the
said question.
(5) On the 8th day of December, A.D. 1953, at the hour of Ten o'clock
in the forenoon, at the office of the ilerk of the Municipality,
the Clerk shall attend and sum up the votes given in the affirmative
and negative on each of the said questions.
