Of the Municipal Council of the Township of Pickering to
appoint a Planning Engineer.
W~iEREAS it has been agreed by Pickering and ~itby Councils that
e Pickering - ~J~itby Townships Joint Planning Board be formed:
AND WHEREAS it ~s been agreed that it would be necessary to
appoint a Planning Engineer:
AND WHEREAS the costs of a Planning Engineer and other expenses
have been agreed on a Pickering 65% - Whitby 35% basis:
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED that
(1) Gordon Culham be employed es Planning Engineer.
(2) That his duties will be:
1. Attending Department of Planning and Development and C.M.H.C.
re Ajax proposals.
2. Attending Clerks of Picketing and ~itby Townships --
reviewing registered plans in relation to Sec. 23 of the Act.
3. Visiting problem areas where urban development is taking
place.
4. Enlargememt of military map to supplement the report.
5. Draft of requirements for regulations to chennelize urban
growth.
6. Designate areas for rural, rural village and urban develop-
ment on m~p in relation to services.

That he agrees to cerrythis study forward to completion and to
advise with the Planning Board on these end other matters in the
interim for the sum of $800.00 to be paid in installments as the
work progresses, and to commence in a week's time. He would
hope to be ready in the spring but this will depend more on the
available time of the ~oard end Council. The above fee will
include his travelling expensea but not the multigraphing or
printing of the report. In the course of the study we shall
certainly be involved in problems of annexation, perhaps of
setting up new incorporated areas and of providing protection
for the To~nship of Picketing with reference to the ~jex com-
munity.
(4) That Council will pay 65% of the cost of such a survey.
