Being e By-law to assess end levy annually e special rets 88
membership fees for the Federation of Agriculture for the County
of Ontario.
WHEREAS under authority of section 315 (b) of the Municipal Act the
Township may by by-law assess end levy a special rets not exceeding
one-half of one mill upon the ratepayers,of the Township who ere en-
tered on the assessment roll as farmers as the annual membership fees
of such persons in the Federation of Agriculture;
AND ~H~REAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of
Pickerlng deems it expedient to assess and levy such special rate;
AND WHEREAS the Department of Municipal Affairs has authorized
the passing of this By-law;
T~EREFOEE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of
Piokerlng ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT a special rate of .2 of one mill shall be assessed end
levied upon the ratepeyers of the Township who are entered on the
assessment roll ss farmers as the annual membership fees of such
persons in the Federation of Agriculture.
2. TNAT such special ~ate shall be assessed, levied and collected
in the same manner es local rates and shell be similarly calculated
ugon the assessments as finally revised and shall be entered in the
collector's roll in a special column, the heading whereof shall be
designated "Federation of Agriculture ~embership Fees", but shall
not form a charge upon lend nor be subject to penalty for non-payment.
3. THAT the Township Treasurer shell deposit the amms collected
under this by-law in a special account end shall from time to time
upon demand pay such sums to the treasurer of the Feteration of
Agriculture for the County of Ontario.
4. THAT the Township Treasurer shell on the date fixed by Statute
for the returm of the collector's roll prepare andforward to the
treasurer of the Federation of Agriculture for the County of Ontario
a list of the names of the ratepayers to whom this by-law is applic-
able end whose rates thereunder have not been collected and thereupon
the duty of the township treasurer to collect such rates shall terminate
5. THAT the Township Treasurer shall deduct from the sums collected
such amounts for the services rendered ss m~y be authorized in writing
by the treasurer of the Federation of Agriculture for the ~ounty of
Ontario, end shall pay such amounts into the general funds of the
township.
6. THAT any person to whom this by-law applies may within thlr~y
days after delivery of the notice of assessment in writing notify the
assessor that he objects to the assessment provided for in this by-law
end,hereupon the assessor shell amend the assessment roll by striking
out the assessment made under this by-law in respect of such person
end shall write his name or initials against such amendment and deliver
e notice of assessment emended accordingly to such person.
