being a by-law to authorize
the construction of a water-
main and road on Toy Avenue
as local /mprovemer~s und~
the pzovisions of Sections 8
and 67 of The Local Impzovemen~
Act.
WHEREAS it is expedient that the construction of
the works herein in Lot 18 in Concession 1 of the Township
of Picke/ing shall be undertaken at the cost hereinafter set
out as local improvements under the provisions of Section 8
of The Local Improvement Act;
AND WHEREAS the cost of the said works is to be
levied by imposing special assessments therefor against lands
in a local improvement area hereinafter defined~ pursuant to
Section 67 of The Local Improvement Act;
AND WHEREAS notice of the intention of Council to
the said construction and imposing of special rates has been
pub lis bed;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a ware/main be constzucted on Toy Avenue from
a point 880 feet north of the north street line of Bayly
Street to a point 1~500 feet north of the north street line
of Bayly Street at a total estimated cost of $8~300.00 as a
local improvement under the p~ovisions of The Local Improve-
merit ACt .
2. The entire cost of the said watermain~ $8~300.00~
is to be assessed upon the lands abutting directly upon the
work. The entire cost~ including debenture charges, shall he
assessed and levied on all of the rateable property in the
area set out in Schedule "A" annexed hereto which is hereby
defined a Local Improvement Area pursuan~ to Section 67(1)
of The Local Improvement Act~ R.S.O. 1960~ as amended, and be
paid by an annual rate of 68¢ per foot on the lands specially
assessed.
That a granular based gravel road with ditches ~x
surface drainage be constructed on Toy Avenue from a point
694 feet north of the north street line of Bayly Street to a
point 1,500 feet north of the north street line of Bayly
Street at an estimated cost of $16,120.00 as a local improve-
ment under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act.
4. The entire cost of the said road is to be specially
assessed upon the lands abutting directly on the work. The
entire cost, including debenture charges, shall be assessed
and levied on the rateable property in the area set out in
Schedule "B" annexed hereto which is hereby defined a Local
Improvement Area pursuant to Section 67(1) of The Local
Improvement Act, R.S.O. 1960~ as amended, and be paid by an
annual rate of $2.51 per foot on the lands specially assessed.
5. The Enginee/ of the Corporation is hereby authorized
to make such plans, pzofiles and specifications and furnish
such information as may be necessaxy for the making of contracts
for the doing of thework ox for carrying out the sa~e by day
labouI and the work shall be carried on and executed unde~ the
supezintendence and according to the directions and orders of
the said engineer.
6. The entire cost of the said watermain is to be paid
by the issuing of debentures bearing interest at the rate of
~ per cerium per annum and be Iepaid by the special
assessments over a term of 20 years~ and the entire cost of
the road is to be paid by the issuance of debentu~s hearing
interest at the /ate of 9 ~ per centum per annum and be
repaid by the said special assessments nye/ a term of 5 years.
7. The Treasurer of the T~Nnship may~ subject to the
approval of Council~ agree with any bank ox person, for temp-
orary advances of money to meet the cost of the work pending
complet ion thereof.
8. Any person whose lot is specially assessed may
commute by a payment in cash the special rate imposed by
paying the cost of construction assessed upon such lot without
the interest forthwith after the special assessment roll has

ALL ABD SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and
premises situate, lying and being in the Township of PicOting
in the County of Ontario and being composed of those parts
of Lot 18 in Concession i of the said Township lying within
363 feet measured east and west from the centre line of Toy
Avenue between a point on the said centre line distant 880
feet north from the north street line of Bayly Street and
a point on the said centre line distant 1,500 feet measured
north from the north street line of Bayly Street.

LOCAL IMPROVE~RT AREA, F.OR ROAD
ALL AND SINGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and
premises situate, lying and being in the Township of
Picketing in the County of Ontario and being composed of
those parts of Lot 18 in Concession 1 of ~-e said Township
lying within 363 feet measured east and west from the centre
line of Toy Avenue between a point on the said centre line
distant 694 feet north from the north street line of Bayly
Street and a point on the said centre line distant 1,500
feet measured north from the north street line of Bayly
St reet.
