BY-LAW NUMBER 937/79
To appoint a local Councillor of the Town
of Pickering as an alternate representative
to the Council of the Regional Municipality
of Durham to act in the place and stead of
Mayor John E. Anderson during his incapacitation.
WHEREAS, pursuant to subsection (6) of section 13 of The
Regional Municipality of Durham Act, 1973, S.O. 1973,
c. 78, the council of an area municipality may by by-law
appoint one of its members as an alternate representative
to the Regional Council who shall act in the place and
stead of the head of council during his incapacity; and
WHEREAS Mayor John E. Anderson of the Town of Pickering
has been incapacitated since December 6th 1978, and for
an indeterminate length of time; and
WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering deems it expedient to appoint an alternate
representative to the Regional Council;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN
OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Councillor Norah Geraghty is hereby appointed
an alternate representative to act in the place
and stead of Mayor John E. Anderson during his
incapacity.
2. The appointment of Councillor Norah Geraghty
as mentioned in Section 1 of this by-law shall
expire on February 8th 1979.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally
passed this 8th day of January 1979.
