BY-LAW NO. 1108 /80
Being a By-Law to amend By-Law 851/78
providing for the regulating of parking,
standing and stopping on highways or
parts of highways under the jurisdiction
of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering and on private and municipal
property.
WHEREAS, pursuant, in part, to the provisions of
paragraph 112 of subsection 1 of section 354 of The
Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970,c.284, as amended, the Council
of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering enacted, on
July 10, 1978, By-Law 851/78, section 3(6)(a) of which
provides as follows:
No person shall park or leave any motor vehicle
on private property without authority from the
owner or occupant of such property;
and
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to confirm that the
meanings.of the terms "owner" and "occupant" therein have
been, are, and shall continue to be the meanings attri-
butable thereto as set out in the enabling legislation;
NOW THEREFORE THE COLNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF
THE TOWN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. Subsection 2 of section 1 of By-law 851/78, enacted
by the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering on July 10, 1978, is hereby amended by
adding thereto the following:
(la)"occupant" has the meaning ascribed thereto
in paragraph 112 of subsection (1) of section
354 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 284,
as amended from time to time;
(lb)"owner", for the purposes of section 3(6)(a)
hereof, has the meaning ascribed thereto in
paragraph 112 of subsection (1) of section
354 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970,c.284,
as amended from time to time;.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed
this 8th day of April , 1980.
