BY-LAW NUMBER 1643/83
Being a by-law to designate pedestrian
crossovers for the purposes of the
Highway Traffic Act
WHEREAS section 120 of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1980,
chapter 198, provides for the drivers of vehicles yielding
the right of way to pedestrians and persons in wheelchairs
crossing a roadway within a pedestrian crossover designated
by by-law;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering HEREBY ENACTS as follows:
Each portion, set out in Column II to Schedule A hereto,
of a roadway, set out in Column I to that Schedule, is
hereby designated a "pedestrian crossover" for the
purposes of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1980,
chapter 198, as amended from time to time.
2. Schedule A hereto shall form part of this by-law.
This by-law shall come into force on the date that it
is approved by the Council of the Regional Municipality
of Durham but shall be effective with respect to each
Item set out in Schedule A hereto only upon the erection
of the prescribed signs and the application to the road-
way of the prescribed markings.
BY-LAW READ a first, second and third time and finally PASSED
this 5th day of April, 1983.
