7. General Business
7.1 City Updates: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
J. San Antonio provided a brief update regarding the City’s EDI work, including:
• EDI Training for leadership;
• efforts to revive the City’s EDI Steering
Committee;
• various community partnerships and initiatives the City continues to be involved
in;
• ensuring the Taskforces work is captured in the City’s next EDI Annual Report; and,
• engagement opportunities to provide
feedback regarding the Seaton Recreation Complex and Library Project.
7.2 Executive Updates
Budget
S. Mascoll reminded the Taskforce that all invoices are due by the end of November.
7.3 Subcommittee Updates
Consultation and Co-Design Subcommittee
K. Hanson provided a brief update to the Taskforce regarding the Consultation and Co-Design Project, indicating that the proposal has been shared with the City for their review and
approval. J. SanAntonio spoke to the review
underway by the City and indicated that she

would keep K. Hanson and D. David appraised of any further updates.
2024 Black Joy Holiday Market
O. Grignon and A. Fraser provided an update regarding the 2024 Black Joy Holiday Market Event and the African-Caribbean Food Baskets, and spoke to:
• the event being based on the principles of
Kwanzaa, food justice, cultural food security, and inclusion;
• the 2024 event dates; and,
• the Mini Moguls Market area for young entrepreneurs at the event.
DFCC Kwanzaa Celebration
O. Grignon spoke to the DFCC Kwanzaa
Celebration and spoke to their request for the City’s assistance in providing in-kind space for the event.
J. SanAntonio indicated that this request would need to be sent to the City’s Community
Services/Facilities team for their review.
Mayor K. Ashe spoke to exploring potential opportunities to assist with this request through the City’s Community Grant Program and requested J. SanAntonio to reach out to the
City’s Finance Department.
Community Partner List
A. Fraser spoke to the list of various community partners that the Taskforce has or can be engaged with moving forward and
to provide him with updates as needed.
2025 Work Plan
O. Grignon spoke to starting to look at what the Taskforce would like to focus on in 2025, including some City initiatives that the Taskforce
can partner on. She asked Taskforce Members to send in any ideas for the Work Plan.
O. Grignon to provide details
of the DFCC Kwanzaa Event to J. SanAntonio. J. SanAntonio to follow up with City staff regarding
potential opportunities to assist with this request.

Marketing and Promotions Subcommittee
There was no update from the Marketing and Promotions Subcommittee.
7.4 PABRT Participation in Community Events
O. Grignon spoke to the Taskforce’s involvement in the Durham Region Municipal DEI Symposium Event on Saturday October 26,
2024 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
7.5 2025 Draft Meeting Schedule
D. David provided an overview of the 2025 Draft Meeting Schedule. The Taskforce spoke to having no meetings in December due to the
various holidays occurring.

J. San Antonio reminded the Taskforce that she
will be soliciting Members to report the time

10. Next Meeting
The next meetings are scheduled for November 7,
2024 at 7:00 pm, and will be chaired by D. David.
