BY-LAW NUMBER 4724/96
Being a by-law to appoint Douglas Dickerson to the office of
Regional Councillor Ward 2.
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 9(9) of the Regional Municipalities Act, R.S.O. 1990,
when a vacancy occurs in the office of a member, other than the chair or the head of the
council of an area municipality, the council of the area municipality of which he or she was
a member shall by by-law within sixly days at~er the vacancy occurs appoint a successor,
who may be a member of the council or a person who is eligible to be elected a member of
the council to hold office for the remainder of the term of his or her predecessor; and
WHEREAS a vacancy occurred in the office of Regional Councillor Ward 2 on December
17, 1995; and
WHEREAS at a Special Meeting of Council held on January 29, 1996 and following
procedures set out in Section 45 of the Municipal Act, a person has been selected by the
Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering to fill the vacancy in the office of
Regional Councillor Ward 2;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Douglas Dickerson be appointed to the office of Regional Councillor Ward 2.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 29th day of January,
1996.
Mayor
