Being a by-law to appoint Vera Dimopoulos as a Municipal
Law Enforcement Officer and Property Standards Officer.
WHEREAS pursuant to Sections 15(1) and 15(2) of the Police Services Act, R.S.O.
1990, chapter P. 15, as amended, a municipal council may appoint persons to enforce the
by-laws of the municipality and municipal by-law enforcement officers are peace officers
for the purpose of enforcing municipal by-laws; and
WHEREAS pursuant to Section 31(1) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter P. 13, as
amended, an officer means a property standards officer who has been assigned the
responsibility of administering and enforcing by-laws passed under this Section;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. From and after the 6th day of May, 1997, Vera Dimopoulos, of the Town of
Picketing, in the Regional Municipality of Durham, is hereby appointed as a
Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, who shall be a Peace Officer, for the purpose
of enforcing the by-laws of the municipality of the Corporation of the Town of
Pickering
2. By-law Number 1852/84 is hereby amended by deleting therefrom the name "Mr.
Thomas Howard" and substituting therefore the name "Vera Dimopoulos".
3. By-law Number 868/78 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 5th day of May, 1997.
