BY-LAW NUMBER
Being a By-law to adopt Amendment 1 to the Official Plan for the Town of Picketing
(OPA 98-002/P)
WHEREAS pursuant to the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, chapter P. 13, Subsections 17(22) and
21(1), the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Picketing may, by by-law, adopt
amendments to the Official Plan for the Town of Picketing, being an official plan, and submit
them to the Region of Durham for approval;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Amendment 1 to the Official Plan for the Town of Pickering, attached hereto as
Exhibit "A" and including the Explanatory Text, is hereby adopted.
The Clerk of the Town of Picketing is hereby authorized and directed to submit
Amendment 1 to the Official Plan for the Town of Picketing, to the Region of Durham
for approval.
3. This By-law shall come into force and take effect on the day of the final passing hereof.

AMENDMENT 1
TO THE
TOWN OF PICKERING OFFICIAL PLAN
AMENDMENT 1 TO THE TOWN OF PICKERING OFFICIAL PLAN
PURPOSE:
LOCATION:
BASIS:
ACTUAL
AMENDMENT:
IMPLEMENTATION:
INTERPRETATION:
The purpose of this amendment is to add an appropriate policy
to the Picketing Official Plan for property maintenance and
occupancy controls.
The proposed policy would apply to the whole of the Town of
Picketing.
The amendment has been determined to be appropriate because
it will enable Council to support its property standards and
maintenance control by-laws.
The Town of Pickering Official Plan be amended by:
1. Adding a new section 15.21 in Chapter 15 -
Development Review, within the "Planning Tools and
Controls" section, as follows:
Maintenance
and Occupancy
By-laws
15.21
Town Council may pass
maintenance and occupancy
by-laws to govern the
standards of all properties
within the Town, in
accordance with the
provisions of applicable
provincial legislation."
The provisions set forth in the Town of Pickering Official Plan,
as amended, regarding the implementation of the Plan, shall
apply in regard to this Amendment.
The provisions set forth in the Town of Picketing Official Plan,
as amended, regarding the interpretation of the Plan, shall
apply in regard to this Amendment. Accordingly, the Town
Clerk shall renumber the sections that follow the new section
15.21, and revise related section cross-references that appear
elsewhere in the Plan.
