1. Update on the status of the Joint Services Study with the Town of Ajax
Councillor Brenner advised that a meeting was held with the Town of Ajax to discuss the
possible amalgamation of transit service and fire dispatch. Implementation of the
amalgamation of these services could possibly take place January 1st, 2000. A report
concerning this matter will be brought before Council for their consideration. Once this is
completed, possible consideration may be given to full fire amalgamation.
2. Update on the Regional Governance Committee
Mayor Arthurs advised that various meetings have been held and a number have been
deferred concerning this matter. Information is still outstanding from the Town of Whitby
and the City of Oshawa. There have been mixed responses from the other municipalities
across the Region of Durham. He advised that this matter is ongoing.
3. Discussion of a Spring Retreat for Members of Council and senior staff
Tentative dates have been set for June 24th and 25th for the spring retreat for Members of
Council and senior staff.
4. Discussion on the Host Community Benefit Agreement with Miller Waste
The Chief Administrative Officer advised that the Director of Public Works, Town
Solicitor and Executive Co-ordinator are meeting to discuss and prepare a Draft Host
Agreement which will be presented to Council for their review. This report should be
available within the next couple of weeks. The Planning Department should advise the
Province of this review and that an addendum may be forthcoming to the previously
forwarded resolution concerning Miller Waste.

5. Update of Millennium Committee activities
The Chief Administrative Officer distributed and briefly explained correspondence from
the Director of Finance &treasurer concerning a draft budget package for Millennium
Events which was distributed to all Department Heads for completion. He explained that
the purpose of this budget is for inclusion of all expenditures and revenues directly
associated with Millennium activities outside of yearly events that have only taken on the
Millennium Image.
Councillor Dickerson gave {a financial report on the Millennium Committee, advising of all
expenditures and revenues.=,
A discussion took place concerning a resolution directing that funds from this Committee
be directed towards Seniors and Youth. Councillor Pickles suggested that Kid's Day or
Senior's Day could be enhanced by the Committee. Councillor Pickles advised that when a
Committee is set-up to look into this matter he would be pleased to interact with them.
