SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
A Special Meeting of the Pickering Town Council was held on Monday, October 28, 1996

AUTHORITY TO MEET IN CAMERA
Resolution #351/96
Moved by Councillor Johnson
Seconded by Councillor Pistritto
That pursuant to Section 55(7) of the Municipal Act, R,S.O. 1990, c MAS, as amended,
the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering hereby resolves to conduct a
meeting closed to the public for the purpose of considering persoMei matters and matters
of litigation.

Council adjourned at 7:30 p,r.1. to convene in the Council Chambers for the regular
Executive Committee Meeting.
Council reconvened at 8:23 p.m.. following the regular Executive Committee Meeting to
continue its In Camera session.

Councillor Dickerson made a proposal to retain an interim Chief Administrative Officer for
a maximum of two years pending the recruitment of a full-time CAO.

The Executive Director of Operations distributed a notice of a public meeting respecting
the proposed Highway 407,
The Executive Director ofOpe!'8tíons advised Council that the Town's Health and Safety
Co-ordinator will carry out inspections of the Brock North Landfill Site during the transfer
of waste ITom that location to the Brock West Landfill Site.
The Executive Director of Operations further advised Council that all staff were advised
of their obligations to attend work on October 25th during the Days of Action protest.
Councillor Johnson asked who will be ensuring the proper perpetual care of the Brock
North Lanrifill Site.

Councillor Johnson stated that Eastern Power Developers has made a request to use the
Brock West Jandfil1 Site for demonstration purposes and asked if this would be monitored
to ensure that they will not be violating the Certificate of Approval,
