permit a service station.
a)
Ross Batten, 525 Townline Rd., Ashburn advised that the 1993 Planning
Report stated this type of facility is ar. inappropriate use of this site and
should not be pursued. There is no need for this facility, it would adversely
affect future development, r~~idents and local businesses, in particular the
local store in Ashburn.
b)
Russell Trevurza, R.R. # I, Ashburn, stated that in advi~ng fP.sidents an
urban radius was used in a rural setting. He requested that the applicant

Town's rural ç,olicies as outlined in the Draft Official Plan. She advised
that the Planning Departments of Pickering, Whitby é1I1d Uxbridge are all
opposed to this application, A service station at this intersection will make
it more dangerous. Approval would destroy the setting of the area which
includes three heritage homes and four farms. Wells. 3treams and ponds
would be put in danger. Ple.ase deny request.
d)
Sal Cornacchia, 3210 Regional Road 5, stated that his biggest concern is
the environmental issue, Scenery would be destroyed, and more traffic,
garbage and accidents would o;;>cur. He requested that the application be ,
denied and that a larger radius than 440' be u'>cd to advise f~sidents of
future applications,
e)
Kim Thompson, representing Heritag~ Pickering advised that this
application has not received the approval of the Planning Department,
residents or the Town of Whitby, She requested that Council r~onsider
