A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWENTIETH day of AUGUST,
1962, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Petition of 37 members and adherants of Claremont Baptist Church
protesting the holding of a liquor vote in the Township of Pickering.
Clerk acknowledge.
2. On November 5th and 6th, 1962, there will be a "Manufacturing
Opportunities" show and conference in the Royal York Hotel, Toronto,
sponsored by the Ontario Department of Economics and Development.
Firms may rent booths at $75.00 each.
3. Our Solicitors submit an expropriation By-Law for sewage outfall
at Frenchman's Bay from Mr. Regan.
4. Department of Highways of Ontario approve Township $163,100.00
Suppleme~tary Road By-Law.
5. Hydro Electric Power Commission submit their report on Township
tak~ng over hydro system with~n its boundaries.
(a) The Act does not provide for a municipality to purchase capital
power plant for a part of the Township - must be the whole
Township.
(b) Township cost $2,550,000.00 as of January 1, 1964,
(c) H.E.P.C. estimate Township net income to revenue to be
1964 - 4.4%
1965 - 9.2%

good fill job done by the late Mr. Chapman.
On MOTION, Messrs. Alex and Michael Picov were heard re expropriation
of 10 acres of land for water plant when an agreement was arrived at.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 219/62
MOVLD by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that we accept the
offer of Messrs. Michael and Alex Picov to settle their claim for
compensation for expropriation of the Water Plant site and that the
Reeve and Clerk be and are hereby instructed to sign the acceptance of
said offer ~nd affix the Seal of the Municipality thereto.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 220/62
MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, that Mr. Poulsson,
Township Engineer, inspect the fill at the south end West Rouge school
property to ascertain if the water course will be affected by erosion
of the fill. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 221/62
MOVLD by Mr. ~pang, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that the Weed Inspector
(Mr. Ashton) be instructed to mow cemeteries owned by Township.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2720 (Third Reading)
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2720 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2721
Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering for the submission to a vote of a
question or questions under The Liquor Licence Act, and that' same now
be read a first time.
Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 2721 for
the submission to a vote of a question or questions under The Liquor
Licence Act be now read a second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By~Law as read.
Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2721 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2722
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the construction of
an eight inch water main extension along Liverpool Road for a distance
of 200 feet more or less as a Local Improvement under the provisions
of The Local Improvement Act, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves that By-Law Number 2722 to
authorize the construction of an eight inch water main extension along

Improvement under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act be now
read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2723
Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a By-L~w
of the Township of Pickering to acquire a right in the nature of an
easement over certain lands and lands covered with water in the Town-
ship of Pickering for the construction, operation and maintenance of a
sanitary sewer outfall pipe, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Wank, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, moves that By-Law Number 2723
to acquire a right in the nature of an easement over certain lands and
lands covered with water in the Township of Pickering for the construct-
ion, operation and maintenance of a sanitary sewer outfall pipe be now
read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2724
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering authorizing speed limits in Bay
Ridges and Fairport, and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-Law Number 2724
authorizing speed limits in Bay Ridges and Fairport be now read a
second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2724 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
CARRIED
AGREED all Council meet in committee September 10th to discuss
certain policies.
