Ontario Water Resources Commission report on Sewage Treatment P1ant. Reasonably gooà. James H. Murdoch asks for a better agreement than the one d~scusèed for the widening of sideline between Lots 14-15, Concession 4. Referred to Road Committee. Ontario Municipal Board has approved sanitary sewers, net cost of $487,506.00, for West Rouge. Count~Assessment Meeting of February 14 cancelled for one March 14th at Port Perry. ~ F~ Hertzberg wishes to launch an appeal for Peace Research Instit te ~n the Township and to know if Council has any objection. Council has no objection. The following PERSON, on MOTION, was heard: 1. MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, that Mr. A. W. Cane be heard re Welfare. CARRIED Mr. A. W. Cane stated that he had 103 families of over 400 persons on relief as compared to 79 families this time last year, and felt that a stenographer-clerk-field worker was necessary to assist in making the proper investigations. Referred to Welfare Committee. - 2 - RESOLUTION NUMBER 3~62 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Reeve and Clerk be and are hereby authorized to execute on behalf of the Township an agreement with the Village of Pickering for fire protection in accordance with the terms of the letter dated 7th February, 1962, from the Village of Pickering, such agreement to run for a period of four months from the earliest possible date. CARRIED RESOLUTION NUMBER 32/62 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Greening, that WHEREAS the Board of Trustees of the Pickering High School District have applied to the municipal councils having jurisdiction in the said High School District for the issue of debentures in an amount not exceeding $43,500.00, repayable over a period of 20 years for the purpose of making permanent improvements to the existing high school at Pickering District High School consisting of 2-room addition. BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Þ~ckering being a municipality included or partly included in the said High School District hereby approves the said application and agreed to assume its proper proportion of the amounts required to pay for the said debentures and interest thereon and the expenses connected therewith to be determined from time to time in the manner provided by The Secondary Schools and Boards of Education Act, 1954. PASSED this 9th day of February, 1962. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Greening, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the accounts, in the amount of $3,554.06, as presented by the WELFARE COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED MOVED by Mrs. McPherson, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the accounts, ~n the amount of $13,708,30, as presented by the ROAD COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the accounts, in the amount of $487.39, as presented by the FIRE COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the Accounts, in the amount of $61,034.40, as presented by the FINANCE COMMITTEE, be approved. cARRltD MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that the accounts, in the amount of $942.90, as presented by the RECREATION COMMITTEE, be approved. cARRtED MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Greening, that the accounts, in the amount of $1,804.46, as presented by the POLICE COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, that the accounts, in the amount of $2,087.32, as presented by the WORKS COMMITTEE, be approved. tARRIED MOVED by Mr. Wank, seconded by Mr. Greening, that the accounts, in the amount of $2,571.19, as presented by the WATER COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED MOVED BY Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that the accounts, in the amount of $242.45, as presented by the BY-LAW COMMITTEE, be approved. CARRIED - 3 - BY-LAW NUMBER 2661 (Two Readings) Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mrs. ~cPherson, moves for leave to intro- duce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the borrowing of $100,000.00 upon debentures for public school purposes, and that same now be read a first time. (S. S. 9, Greenwood) Mr. Mowbray, seconqed by Mr. Spang, moves that By-Law No. 2661 to authorize the borrowing of $100,000.00 upon debentures for public school purposes, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. þ) BY-LAW NUMBER 2662 Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Wank, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the Township of Pickering to name members who will com- prise the Plumbing Inspection Board of the Township of Pickering, and that same now be read a first time. Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Greening, moves that By-Law Number 2662 to name members who will comprise the Plumbing Inspection Board of the Township of Pickering, be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon. The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2662 be adopted, and that the said By-Law he now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
