A Meetin~ of CoUncil was held on FRIDAY, the SIXTEEN~ day of ~, 1958, at
EIGHT o'clock in the evening.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. The Women's Auxiliäry, ','Ajax-Pickering General Hospital, asked permission to
hold a tag day June 6 - 7.
The followi.T1~ PERSONS, on MOTION, wepe heard:
1. Jack Reid, West Rouge, objected to dogs running at large, destroying his
plartirgs and upsetting garbage cans; also, he requested information on
~ividiT1g lots in West Rouge.
2. Mr. J. C. Lan~edijk, of Richmond Hill, applied for position of Road
Superintef1dent.
3. Jack S. ChaDman applied for position of Road Superintendent.
4. Messrs. Geor~e Duncan and Ross Knox, Trustees of School Section 10, asked
Council to accept deed to road to proposed school when built by them to
Township standard.
RESOLUTION NUMBER 93
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Rex Godson be transferred from
the positior of Road Superintendent to that of Township Engineer and that By-Law
Number 2188 be repealed, sUbject to the approval of the Department of Highways.

RESOLUTION NUMBER 94
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, that Jack Chapman be hired as the
Road Superirtendent for the Township of Pickering at a starting salary of
$5,200.00 per annum, subject to the approval of the Department of Highways.
CARRIED

RESOLUTION NUMBER 95
MOVED bv Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Stewart, that the attached tender of $1,350.00
for three ton truck with box and hoist, as submitted by J. Burrow's garage for a
1951 International L-l70 be accepted, sUbject to the defective tire"or tipes being
replaced. This truck for the Garbage Department. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 96
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. James, that James Glendinning of the Pickerin~
Towrship Fire Area No. 1 be granted a salary increase of 5% per annum, retroactive
to January 1, 1958. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 97
MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mrs. McPherson, that Township take over proposed ro~
to School Section No. 10 new school when brought up to Township standard. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 98
MOVED by Mr. Stewart, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that the Women's Auxiliary, Ajax-Pickerj
General Hospital, be permitted to hold a tag day in Pickering Township June 6 - 7.

MOVED by Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, that Building Inspector uphold By-Law No.
2093 re moving houses into Township. CARRIED

Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Stewart, moves for leave to introduce a By-Law of the
Township of Pickering to appoint a Road Superintendent in the Township of
Pickering, ap~ that same now be read a first time.
Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. James, moves that By-Law Number 2317 to appoint a Road
Superinten"e~t in the Township of Pickering be now read a second time, and that
Council ~o into Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Scott, seconded by Mr. Pugh, moves that the report of the Committee of the
Whole on By-Law Number 2317 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a
Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the
Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED
€LERK'S INSTRUCTIONS
1. Re-write By-Law 2093 re moving houses into Township.
2. Advise Mr. Gerigs he must eliminate dogs at large in West Rouge.
3. Advise Jack Reid of West Rouge re subdivision of lots.
Or MOTION of Mr. Stewart, the meeting adjourned.
