Metro 10ronto Conservation Authority submits requisition for 15,150.80 to Township for 1961 as Federal Government has approved their capital funds plan. 5. Peter Barron, Concession 7, Lot 29, makes application for a Kennel Licence to keep fox terriers and submits approval of two neighbours and the By-Law Enforcement Offioer. See Resolution No. 234/61. The A~ax-Pickering and Dist rict New Party endorse the action taken by the Pickering Council re hours of work under Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation financing. J. H. Coates, of Claremont Band, thank Council for $25.00 donation re l50th Anniversary. Fire Chief LJnde advises that Mr. H. Morgan could not pass medical for ull time fireman, and that he would recommend Mr. R. Morgan. See ltesolution No.. 236/61. The following PEHSONS. on MOTION, were heard: 2. 3. 4. 1. MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that Mr. Morton be not heard at this time, but appear before Council in Committee on Wednesday evening, July 19th at 8 otclock. MOTION LOS! MOVED by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Mr. Morton, of Fairport, be heard. CA}UtlED Mr. S. Morton complained about the treatment given him by the Township Welfare Officer when he asked for welfare for his 16 year old niece, who is now living with him. This niece is a resident of the City of Toronto for welfare purposes. MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. James that Mr. Cane be heard if he so desires in respect of the points raised by Mr. Morton. CA}UtlED Mr. Cane stated he had made a full investigation of Mr. Morton, his niece and her family in Toronto, and submitted a character reference of Mr. Morton, made in affidavit by his ~ year old son. ~:s MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Spang, that Mr. Morton be heard a second time in regard only to new matters raised by Mr. Cane. CA}UtlED Mr. Morton stated that the $40.00 monthly assistance granted by Mr. Cane was not sufficient. - 2 ... 2. MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. James, that Mr. George Christensen be heard re wrecking yard. CAlUŒED Mr. G. Christensen, o:f Green ltiver objected to the"Green ltiver Wrecking Company" drawing used lumber onto the property formerly owned by the "brick company" I if it were to be used as a wrecking yard. Mr. Christensen agreed to secure the truck licence number for Mr. Ashton, who would prosecute if they operated a wrecking yard without a licence. 3. MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that Mr. Roy Jones be heard. CAlUtIED Mr. W. T. Carroll, Solicitor for Mr. Jones submitted plans for a Drive-in-Theatre on 15 acres of Lyle Jones property in Concession I, Lot 23, between the two highways. This theatre would accommodate about 854 cars and cost about $162,000.00, excluding value of the land. Mr. Carroll stated that he was almost assured an approval from the Department of Highways was forthcoming, and that the theatre could be opened 6 weeks after final approvals received. He asked Council to approve. See Hesolution No. 239/61. 4. MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. Deakin that Mr. Peter Barron be heard re Kennel Licence. CAlUtIED Mr. Peter Barron asked :for a Kennel Licence at Concession 7 Lot 29. See Hesolution No. 234/61. HESOLUTION NO. 234/61 MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. James, that Mr. Peter Barron, Lot 29 Con. 7, be granted a Kennel Licence. CAlUŒED HESOLUTION NO. 235/61 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded taken respecting the complaint of the Welfare Officer. by Mr. Boyes, that no action be of Mr. Morton conceming the conduct CAlUtIED ~ HESOLUTION NO. 236/61 MOVED by Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Mowbray that Pickering Town- ship Council accept the recommendation of Fire Chief Don Lynde that H. Morgan be accepted as probationary fireman subject to medical approval. CAlUŒED HESOLUTION NO. 237/61 MOVED by Mr. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the Heeve and Clerk be authorized to execute, on behalf of the Township} an agreement with Barry Allen for the reconstruction at the expense of the said Barry Allen, at a cost of approximately $7.50 per foot of approximately 1600 feet of the Valley Faßn Road and to affix the Seal of the Corporation thereto. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves that By-Law Number 2622 to define certain built up areas and designate a limited rate of speed which motor vehicles may be driven on certain roads in the Township of Pickering, be now read a second time, and that Council go into ComIbittee of the Whole there> n. The Com mittee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read. Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law Number 2622 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.
