Jefferson reported on Bay Ridges progress (1) Sewage Plant up to schedule - Expect it completed by September 1, 1961. (2) Water Plant up to schedule - Expect it completed shortly after September 1, 1961. (3) 457 Building permits issued to date. (4) 271 Occupancy permits issued to date. 12. Township School Area No.2 B'Oard advise that a'number of children have asked permission to attend their schools from Cherrywood School Section so ask Council to consider moving their northerly boundary from Concession 2 to C. P. R. tracks. Clerk secure assessment of this area and number of school childrén and consuLt with Cherrywood School Board. 10. 13. The Pickerinø; Urban District Council in Yorkshire~ England sent congratulations to the Township on its anniversary along with a book entitled "The Evolution of an English Town", written in 1905 about Pickering, our ItTwin Town". This town has a population of 4000,. grows very slowly but has a wealth of history. It seems that our Munie1.pal prob- leMs are not Uft1ike. Chief Parker asked that - (1 ) All Township By-Laws concerning traffic be repealled and brought up to date under 1Jnê By-Law:" for each regulation. That traffic on all roads in new subdiv- isions be regulated. that a sign be erected at entrance of all speed zones 8tating that a lesser speed begins. That all complaints about police work be referred to himself or ~he Police Commission (2) (3) (4) 2. Mr. Ashton felt it was impossible to notify all persons before he had weeds cut. See Resolution. 3. Reeve Scott reported he had met with the Ontario Munici{Jal B~ and that they had agreed to approve the financing of {5l0,000.00 debentures for West Rouge sewage system. -3- RESOLUTION NO. 2l3/61 MUVI!iJJ by Mr. Ross ~in, seconded by Mr. Milton Mowbray, that the Water Tank situated in the West Rouge Area be painted in large letters "Pickering Township" with smaller letters "West Rouge Area" and that Reso~ution 268/60 be repealed. CARRIED Yea: Messrs. Deakin Scott, James, Spang, Mowbray. Nay: Messrs. Boyes, Laycox. RESOLUTION NO. 214/6l MOVËD by Mr. Laycox, seconded by Mr. H. Boyes, that Mr. Johnston be authorized to consult Stevens, Hassard and Elliott, re the preparation of Money By-Law for East Rouge Water at cost of. $174,052.15. CARRIED ~ESOLUTION NO. 215/61 ~OVED by Mr. C. Laycox, seconded by Mr. Harry Boyes, that Mr:-Ashton be authorized to mow obnoxious weeds on all lots under 9 acres in size, as he sees fit and according to regulations laid down in the Act covering ebnoxious weeds. CARRIED RESOLUTION NO. a16~6l ' :ROVED by Mr. Ross eakin, seconded by Mr. C. Laycox, that the book presented to Pickering Township by the Pickering Council of Yorkshire England be donated to the Historical Society of Pickering Township Canada. CARRIED RESOLUTION NO. 217/61 BOVED by Mr. Harry Boyes, seconded by Mr. Ross Deakin that Mr. E. Dallin, Concession 4, South side, be granted &< Kennel License for German Sheppard dogs. CARRIED RESOLUTION NO. 218/61 MOVl!iJJ by Mr. M. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. Edgar R. James, that the Reeve and Clerk be authorized to execute a certain deed dated the 4th day of July 1961 granting to Herbert Hill and Helen Hill a right of way over the ten foot strip lying between their property in Lot 12, Concession 5, and the Greenwood Road and to affix the seal of the Corporation thereto. CARRIED RESOLUTION NO. 219/61 !OVI!iJJ by Mr. M. Mowbray, seconded by Mr. C. Laycox, that t~lerk be instructed to negotiate the purchase of four tape-type dictating machines of which two shall have dictating attachments and two shall have transcribing attachments, at a total cost not to exceed $718.00. Mowbray, that the '. : wage scale for the full time fire fighters be as foll ()ws: At a rate of $3620.00 per year for a probationary peri~ of six months" At conclusion of the six month period the probationary firemaa would be eligible to become . firemen at a rate O,f $3800.00 ,er year With yearly incremants .. of '200.00 per year until the maximum of $4400.00 is reached. CARRIED RESOLUTION NO. 221/61 MOVED by Mr. C. taycox, seconded by Mr. R. W. Deak1~ that Mr. George Gerigs be given two weeks double P~', providing he continues his work as dog catcher through his two week holiday period. Mowbray, moves t68t the report of the Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2573 be adopted, and that the said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto. CARRIED Mr. L. T. Johston, Clerk, to get copies of all traffic By-Laws for next meeting. Mr. Chapman is to get man to clean up Ruddy field.
