A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY the TWENTY-FOUßrH day of
APRIL, 1961" at EIGHT o'clock in the eve.u.ng.

Messrs. Craig and Gaynor, ot West Rouge Kiwanis Club, brought 36
Grade 8 pupils from West ~ou.ge along with teachers Weaver and
Denton, to sit in ~n ~he Council meeting. Reeve Scott welo....

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1.
Hydro-Electric Powlr Commission has erected street lights
around Bay Ridges ubdiv1sion on Sandy Beach Road" Base Line
and Liverpool Road.. Mr. Kerr stated the developers were
anxious to have the lights'tumed on before the end of' April
when the new owners would start to move in.
Cleric directed to ask C. B., C. if' they would pay for such
street light operation.
2. Mr. I. Brudnicki, 01' Scarborough) asked Counoil to consider
"sane" liquor laws.

Cleric advise Mr. Brudnicki that he may circulate the required
petition. .
Ontario Municipal Board approves new Ward By-Law.
W. G. Lawson asks Council to take over "Greenridge Drive" in
Plan 555 (south of Greenwood School) about 220 feet long.

Pickerin~ Villa~e ask Council to reoonstruct Greenwood Road on
their east boundary for 70 rods north of Highway 2.
A. W. Cane asked permission to attend the Welfare Officerst
Association in Comwall in June,

Walt~r Telek. of ADY Camp, north of Pickering Village, asked
permission to build 10 sUDIDer cottages of approximately 600
square feet each and wouleJ, agree that they would not be lived
in more than three months in anyone year. Council agreed
to check with our Solicitor.

2. Mr. Alvin Hawley, owner of a home on south side of Green~
Avenue, Plan 282, stated Council had agreed years ago, tð~ake
over Greenwood Avenue if brought to Township standard. He
had spent $243.00 on gravel last year and now asked Council to
assume. Councillor Laycox agreed to meet Road Superintendent
at location and bring in a report.

3. Messrs. Greer and Hawthorne. from District Superintendent,
Department of Highways of Ontario, Port Hope, made themselves
known to Council.
4. Councillor Deakin advised Council that on this P. M. Deputy Fire
Chief Glendinning and a volunteer fireman had saved the life of
a boy who could not breath and had fed him oxygen until they
could get him to the Scarborough hospital.

MOVED by Mr. James seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that no action be
taken with the request of W. G. Lawson to pay half the cost of the
survey for exchange of roads in Concession 4, Lots 12-13. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 111/61
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, that we accept the tender
of Burrowt,s Garage for the 25,000 GVW at a price of $6000.00, and
the tender of J. Hart, Barrie, for the 27,000 GVW truck~ at a priceV\
of $7000.00, subject to the approval of the Department of Highways ~

S. W. Hart be accepted, sUbject to the ~proval of the Department j\

consent for Harold Hornshaw to sell an isolated lot 66~ X 175' in

telephone and telegraph companies, and that same now be read a first
time.
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Deakin, moves that By-Law Number 2600 to
set apart a Police Village area within the meaning of The AssessMent
Act for the assessing of telephone and telegraph companies, be now
read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.

Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2600 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and

By-Law of the Township of Pickering to amend By-Law Number 1659
which provides for the licensing and regulation of Public Halls in
the said Township, and that same now be read a first time.

amend By-Law Number 2659 which provides for the licensing and
regulation of Public Halls in the said TownshiP.. be now read a
second time.. and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
