A meeting of Council was held on MONDAY, the TWENTY-SEVENTH day of
MARCH, 1961, at EIGHT o'clock p. m.

The following CORRESPONDENCE was considered:
1. Mrs. D. J. PIitz, Secretary, Handicapped Children Swimming
Classes. Thanks for $100.00 grant.
2. Ontario Water Resources Commission. Report on Rouge Hills Water
System. Rocommendations:
(1) Flush system every three months.
(2) Keep daily plant records.
(3) Chlorine to be kept at 0.2 to 0.3 p.p.m.
(4) Send samples to O.W.R.C. every two weeks.
3. Health Unit Nursin~ Service, 1960 report.
4. Resolution Board of Health meeting, March 21, 1961:
"That the Board of Health of Ontario County Health
Unit advise the member municipalities that follow-
ing the recommendation of the Committee approved by
the Government or Ontario to investigate fluoridation,
they endorse the fluoridation or all municipal water
supplies as a safe and economical means of preventing
dental caries in areas whose water supply contains
insufficient naturally occuring fluoride."

MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, that this Council request
the transfer, for the year 1960, of the following monies in the
road expenditures:

RESOLUTION NUMBER 98/61
MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, that Council purchase
the 7.12 acres proposed park land at Greenwood at a price of
$4900.00 upon receipt of $1,837.50 from the Greenwood Recreation

BY -LAW NUMBER 2591
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Deakin moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to provide for the removal of
snow and ice from sidewalks in the Township, and that same now be
read a first time.
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. James, moves that By-Law Number 2591 to
provide for the removal of snow and ice from sidewalks in the Town-
ship be now read a second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. Boyes, seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2591 be adopted, and that the
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed
thereto. CARRIED

Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves for leave to introduce a
By-Law of the Township of Pickering to appoint a Road Superintendent
(Jack Chapman) in the Township of Pickering, and that saae now be
read a first time.
Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Mowbray, moves that By-Law No. 2592 to
appoint a Road Superintendent in the Township of Picke ring be now
read a second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole
thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-Law as read.
Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Laycox, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on B~-Law No. 2592 be adopted, and that thel
said By-Law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve
and Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the COrPoration be affixed
thereto. CARRIED

Reeve Scott stated he had met with the Department of Highways of
Ontario and was advised that Highway No. 2 from Pickering Village
to Scarborough Township would be widened to 120 feet; the pavement
would be widened from 22 feet to 24 feet with 12 feet shouldersl
which would serve as sidewalks. Many curves would be removed and
sight lines at Altona Road would be improved. The road through or
around Dunbarton will not be decided until an agreement is reached
with the C. N. R. By-Pass.
(2) Mr. Scott read a letter from Mr. Goodingl which required the
Township Council to appoint members to the Museum Committee if
Provincial grants were to be secured. It was AGREED that Reeve
Scott and Councillor Mowbray represent Council on the Committeel
and that a By-Law be prepared.
On MOTION of Mr. Laycox1 the meeting adjourned at 9:30 p. m. to
meet in Committee on Finance.
