The fol10wiag PERSONS, on MOTION, were heard:
1. T.O. hfferson reconunend.ed that Rouge Highlands Subdivision be
accepted by Council subject to certain conditions and work to be
done.
Council agreed to hold up taking over such subdivision until an
easement had been secured through W. Chester property, and to
refer to our Solicitor.
2. Mr. J. S,. Cha~man stated the lowest tenders on trucks met with
all specifications; asked Council to order signs for West
Rouge from his list of tenders 1 and give direction about
unuse d -11 boxe s in We st Rouge..
The tenders on signs were as follows:

MOVED by Mr. Hawthorne, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that the claim of
Mr. E. B. Strang be referred to the Township's Insurance Company.

MOVED by Mr. laycox, seconded by Mr. Boyes, that Mr. Chapman, Road
Superintendent, be authorized to purchase from Mechanical Advertising
Company stree t signs for East and We st Rouge areas.

Reeve Scott reported that members of Planning Board and Councillor
Boyes had toured the proposed location of H.E.P.C. line from
Frenchman's Bay to Cherrywood H.i4PcC. Station on Sat~daY, March 12,
'l»itb ¡'!С;tbaps'of Hydro. It was arranged that Messrs. Todd, Scotti
Jefferson, Little and Pearce should ag~in meet with Hydro re proposed
route.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2494
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. laycox moves for leave to introduce a
B?-JJ1¡,w of the Township of Pickering to authorize the Corporation to
ep. leY" into a contract with the Hydro-Electric Power Commission of
Or.:ÜH'10 for the lighting of streets in the Township (Brougham
additional street lights), and that same now be read a first time.
~ir. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Spang, moves that By-law Number 2494 to
authorize the Corporation to enter into a contract with the Hydro-
Electric Power Commission of Ontario for the lighting of streets in
the Township, be now read a second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Whole arises and reports the By-law as read.
Mr. Deakin, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves that the report of the
Committee of the Whole on By-Law No. 2414 be adopted, and that the
said By..law be now read a Third time and PASSED; that the Reeve and
Clerk sign the same, and the Seal of the Corporation be affixed thereto.

BY-LAW NUMBER 2495 (Two Readings)
Mr. Boyes, seconded"by Mr. Deakin, moves for leave to introduce a
By-law of the Township of Pickering to set fees to permit the
installation of all plumbing, and that same now be read a first
time .
Mr. Boyes! seconded by Mr. Iaycox, moves that By-Law Number 2495 to
set ~ees to permit the installation of all plumbing, be now read a
second time, and that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.
BY-LAW NUMBER 2496 (Two Readings)
Mr. laycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, move s for leave to introduce a
By-law of the Township of Pickering to authorize the construction of
an elevated water storage tank and to borrow upon debentures
therefor the sum of One Hlmdred Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars
($100,500.00), and that same now be read a first time.
Mr. layCOX, seconded by Mr. Boyes, moves that By-law Number 2496 to
authorize the construction of an elevated water stora~ tank and to
borrow upon debentures therefor the sum of One Hundred Thousand,
Five Hundred Dollars ($100,500.00), be now read a second time, and
that Council go into Committee of the Whole thereon.

Mr. G. B.s-trans: spoke to his letter that Council pay damage
to his car. See Resolution No. 108/60.
Messrs. F. G. Hunt and A. W. Tyas, pf School Area NO.2, presented
their 1960 requisition and explained requirements. They have

required this year unless C, B. C. builds houses. They have
not budgeted for a surplu8. 1960 requisition up 3 mills fro
last year 25.9 rate. They wish to be kept informed of C. B. C.
development by the Council. They have increased teaching staff
by nine - salary range now is $3300.00 to $7500.00. .
D. S. McIntosh asked that he be released from Bonds and that he
would payoff in cash his indebtedness re Rouge Highlands.
Agreed to contact our solicitor re Chester Easement, etc.
Mr. Johnston, of Anchor Taxi, asked for a single taxi license
to operate in south west Pickering. Was given a copy of Taxi
By-law and directed to contact Police Chief or Clerk if more
information required.

MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. James, that Council accept the
Tender price of Patrick Motors of Stouffville for one ! ton pick-up
at the tender price of $2,498.75, sUbject to the approval of the
Department of Highways. CARRIED

MOVED by Mr. James, seconded by Mr. Iaycox, that Council authorize
the pa~nt of $800.00 to the County of Ontario, being amount agr~ßd
on by bQ~h Road Committees in 1959 as the amount to be granted to
the County in lieu of the Township fencing and installing culverts
and gate.s on Badgerow property, Concession 3, Lots 17 and 18, as

MOVED by Mr. Iaycox, seconded by Mr. Deakin, that all rural mail
boxes in the locality known as West Rouge be removed from their
roadside locations by May 1st, 1960, else they shall become the
property of the Roads Department of the Township of Pickering to be
disposed of as they see fit. CARRIED
RESOLUTION NUMBER 107/60
MOVED by Mr. Spang, seconded by Mr. James, that Council give public
recognition to the employees of the Road Department of the Township
of Pickering for the good work done by them during exceptionally
heavy snow falls in keeping our roads passable. CARRIED
