A Meeting of Council was held on THURSDAY the SECO~D day of October,
1952, commencing at TEN o,clock in the morning.

The MINUTES of previous meeting, held-September 2nd, were read, and on
MOTION of Mr. Balsdon, seconded by Mr. Michell, ADOPTED.~
The MINUTES of meeting held September 9th, were'read, and on MOTION
of Mr. 'Bal~don, seconded by Mr. Miehell, ADOPTED..

The following CORRESPONDENCE was read:
1. Melville Grant, Q.C., copy correspondence re Trailer Camps.
°2. Mrs. F. Hoare, asking Council to pass a By-Law to provide tha~
persons whose property is in arrears cannot vote on Money By-Laws.

3e H. A. Giles, complaining about ditch in front of his property in Plan
Gordon O. Attrelt, complaining about neighbours ~nd want~ Dunbarton
Shores Road (private) plowed in winter.
5- J. Warde..n, Olaremont, complaining about smoke and smell from
Claremon'~ Cannery.
6. James R. Mille, Claremont, complaining about smoke and smell

7- W. T. Crosier, Secretary, Fairport Beach Ratepayers' Association
asking that weeds be cut in thAir subd. ivision.
8. Picketing Police Commiseion, advising that they ~re the only ones
who can deal with Police salaries an ask that Council approve .of
a supplementary budget of $900.00 for ~Police s~lary increases.
9. Stouffville Tribune quote price for By-Law book, 1000 copies, 150

10. F. J. Pro,use, advising that September Building Permits, 31 -

11. Fines - Cheque, August, 1952 - $305.53.
12. Alt°ns Womens' Institute,,, asking that sheds of Church at Altona,
south-east corner, be removed to provide more safety for cars.

13. Clifford Anderson, Conceesion l, Lot 29, re stones on road. Mr.
Newman to see Ratepayers at Fairport Beach.
14. Fire Prevention Week, October 5- ll, 1952.
15. Scarborou~h Public Utilities Commission, advising that as their
water' pipe lines are not laid to Picketing Town Line, it would be
impossible to consider supplying any part of Picketing Township
with water at present.
16. Mr. Laidlaw, asking when names for road signs would be ready.

17. Rod Appleb~ asked that stones be removed from watercourse in
Concession ~, Lot 1, so that water may drain from his fields.
Some stones removed by Mr. Ward - can do no more.
~'8. Police Report - S~eptember, 1952
The greatest combined Police .effort in the annals of Criminal law
enforcement has culminated i~ the apprehension of Canada,s most
wanted criminals, in the persons .of .Boyd, Suchan, and the Jacksons.
This Department played no small part in the hunt, and many calls
were answered. Many suspicious cars and premises were searched
at all hours. Accidents have been numerous, two were fatal, and
many persons were injured. D~inking drivers have also been a
problem.
The trailer matter has~ been in Court twice, but nothing has been
done as yet. Mr. Grant, Q.C., did not appear in .the 29th ~inst.,
so the Magistrate put these cases over until October 14th next.
