BROUGHAM
An Emergent Meeting of Picketing Township Council was
held on AuEust llth, 19~9, at the hour of Eight o.clock
in the evening.
All Members of the Council were present, the Reeve in
the chair.
The following persons, on motion, were heard :-
1. Dr. Gordon Armstrong complained that a licensed
dog kennel, owned by W. J. Edwards, forty feet
from his cottage at Port Dunbarton, was a nuisance
in that the dogs barked from 6 A.M. on during the
day, and that the kennel attracted many flies. The
Doctor asked that the license be cancelled.
MOVED by Mr. Burk, seconded by ~r. Disney, that the Clerk
~ W.J.Edwards and request that the noise nuisance of
his dog kennel abate immediately on complaints of local
residents, under Section 5 of our By-law No. 1750. CARRIED.
2. Dr. N. E. McEwen asked for a dog kennel license for
a prospective purchaser of 20 acres of his property
at Conc.3, Lot 19, stating that it would be for
approximately 200 dogs.
MOVED by Mr. Burk, ~seconded by Mr. Balsdon that a kennel
I-i-~se be not issued for 20 acres in Conc. 3, lot 19, now
owned by ~r. N.E.McEwen. CARRIED.
Mrs. E. Cassie~ ~s. M. Birrell and Mrs. I. Philip,
representing the Brougham Women's Institute, asked
that the setting back of the stage in the Township
Hall not interfere with sufficient space for a kitchen
for preparation of meals for social activities.
It was agreed that a committee of Council and the Women's
Institute seet in the Hall before completion of the job.
4- Fletcher Goudie, a Plumber from Altona, regarding the
insti'~l'iation ~ a furnace in Municipal Building.
_~.hbY Mr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Disney, that tende~ of
er Goudie to instal a water-heating system in Municipal
Building for $2,686.5? with a Ward and King furnace, 500 gallon
fuel oil tank, and a Fess 0il Burner, be accepted. ~ CARRIED.
As Chief Constable, John Irvine, has now submitted bills for his
July accounts, it was moved by ~fr. Burk, seconded by Mr. Disney,
that the $16.25 be paid. CARRIED.
Clerk' s instructions.
1. Get price on printing Planning Board °Survey in "Picketing
News", "Stouffville Tribune", and"Scarboro' Enterprize"
2. Ask Road Superintendent to get a road d~ag for Mr.Rudik
and advise him of a bad hole in Uxbridge Townline road.
MOVED by Mr. Todd, seconded by Mr. Balsdon that the meeting
adJourn.
