ON MOTION of Mr. Finley, seconded by Mr. Balsdon, Mr~ Westney
took the chair.
Mr. Finley advised the meeting that Central Mortgage & Housing
Corporation intended to make application to the Municipal
Board for an Improvement District com~sing what is now called
Ajax, together with all the land easterly to the Whitby town-line,
and possibly as far north as a line drawn midway between Concessions
2 and 3, to Duffin's Creek, but excluding Picketing Village and
northerly.
Mr. Bunnell suggested that thought might be given to the Ajax
Area being extended to Scarboro' town line and east to Whitby
Town, and that the northern Picketing Township and northern
Whitby Township be combined.
Mr. Finley stated that Central Mortgage & Housing Corporation
would permit itself to be assessed as private property, that
rural properties would not pay cost of local improvements,
and that Central Mortgage & Housing Corporation would make up
the difference.
Considerable discussion arose respecting boundaries of proposed
area, as some felt that the lower-priced housing in south-west
were a product of Ajax and as such the Ajax area should be
responsible for a portion of extra cost of services.
