A meeting of the Pickering Township
Council was held on MONDAY, the
TWENTY-EIGHTH day of FEBRUARY, 1972,
at 11:25 P.M.
PRESENT:
Reeve J. R. Williams
Deputy Reeve G. Ashe
Councillors - J. Anderson
Mrs. J. L. McPherson
D. Kitchen
K. Matheson
D. Quick
Clerk D. J. Plitz
Resolution #70/72
MOVED by Councillor D. Quick, seconded by Councillor
D. Kitchen, that the Committee of the Whole recommend
to Council that they give approval for Phase I for
the project to renovate the West Rouge Club House
for purposes of a community centre, and make available
the following sums of money plus winter works subsidies.
$12,000.00 Subdivider Grants
5,000.00 Community Centres Grants
10,000.00 MUnicipal Grants
CARRIED
Recorded Vote:
Yes: Messrs. D. Quick, Matheson, Kitchen and Williams
No: Mrs. McPherson, Messrs. Anderson and Ashe
Councillor J. Anderson opposed the resolution to expend
this amount of money stating that until he could have the
assurance of the West Rouge residents to the effect they
would guarantee $10,000.00, he could not support the action
of Council.
Deputy Reeve Ashe opposed the expenditure, stating that this
money should be put towards the construction of a new building'
or buildings located in various areas.
Meeting adjourned on motion at 11:35 p.m.
