COUNCIL MEETING
A meeting of the Pickering Town Council
was held - on r10NDAY, the 'ri~1ENTY FOURTH day
of JUNE, 1974 at 7:00 p.m.

ADOPTION OF MINUTES
MOVED by Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor
Matheson that the minutes of the meeting of June 3rd
and 10th 1974 be adopted.

By-Law Number 74/74
Councillor Matheson, seconded by Councillor Spratley,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to levy such rates against all the assessed
properties in the Town of Pickering as will be required
to operate the various Public, Separate and High Schools
under jurisdiction of the Durham Region Roman Catholic
Separate School Board and the Durham Recrion Board of
Education, and to pay the Debentures and Interest falling
due for Schools in the year 1974, and that same now be
read a first and second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the ~fuole thereon.
The Committee of the ~fuole arises and reports the By-law
as read.
Councillor Hatheson, seconded by Councillor Kitchen,
moves that the report of the Committee of the ~~ole on
By-law Number 74/74 be adopted, and that the said By-law
be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the t1ayor and
Clerk sign the same, and the seal of the Corporation be
affixed thereto.

By-Law Number 75/74
Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor Spratley,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to adopt the 1974 budgets and to provide for
the Levy of all Non-education Rates required to raise
the various sums of money in such budgets, save and
except Local Improvements, and that same now be read a
first and second time, and that Council go into Committee
of the ~~ole thereon. -
The Committee of the í1hole arises and reports the By-law
as read.

Councillor Robertson, seconded by Councillor Spratley,
moves .~~':~': the report of the COInnlÍ ttee of the hThole on
By-law Number 75/74 be adopted, and that the said By-
law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Mayor
and Clerk sign the same, and the seal of the Corporation
be affixed thereto.
Recorded Vote: CARRIED
Yea: Messrs. Ashe, Matheson, Kitchen, Robertson, Searle,
Spratley.
Nay: Mr. Anderson.
OTHER BUSINESS
A letter was received from the First Westshore Pickering
Scout and Cub Group seeking a meeting place in the
Westshore area. The Westshore Community Centre was
suggested as a possible location.
A letter was received from Keith McDowell Real Estate
on behalf of Mr. Baumgartner who had an application for
amendment to the Minister's Zoning Order. Mr. McDowell
wishes to appear before Council to explain the
circumstances of the property. He is to be advised to
apply to appear as a delegation at the Council meeting
of July 2nd, 1974.
A letter was received from Housina ~1.inister Sidney
Handleman concerning the Fire Fighter situation in
North Pickering. A newsletter will be sent out asking
for volunteer Fire Fighters from ~~ng the new residents.

Number 76/74
Councillor Anderson, seconded by Councillor Hatheson,
moves for leave to introduce a By-law of the Town of
Pickering to confirm the proceedings of the Council of
the Cc: poration of the Town of Pickering at its ~eeting
held on the 24th day of June 1974, and that same now be
read a first and second time, and that Council go into
Committee of the Whole thereon.
The Committee of the Hhole arises and reports the By-law
as read.
Councillor Anderson, seconded by Councillor Searle,
moves that the report of the Committee of the vfuole on
By-law Number 76/74 be adopted, and that the said By-
law be now read a Third Time and PASSED, that the Mayor
an;-";. Clerk sign the same, and the seal of the Corporation
be affixed thereto.
CARRIED
ADJOURNMENT
MOVED by Councillor Searle, seconded by Councillor
Spratley that the meeting adjourn at 8:25 p.m.
